Planned Parenthood has been facing more and more out-lash in partner with Trump's presidency, mostly surrounding abortion services. The state of Texas just officially defunded the organization, and it seems as though many other states are bound to follow this trend. Here are 15 facts about Planned Parenthood and its amazing work (which is more than just abortion services).

1. It aims to create a healthier world for everyone.

2. It is a large health care provider.

The organization is America's most trusted provider of reproductive health care. It offers high-quality, affordable medical care and services for low-income families or people with few or no options, with its numbers reaching 2.5 million people.

3. Abortion services only account for 3% of its services.

Planned Parenthood protects and expands access to a safe and legal abortion, which again is only 3% of its services.

4. The other 97% is general healthcare amenities.

As indicated by the pie chart above, it services does most of its work in supplying birth control, providing cancer screenings and testing and treatment for STDs. The majority is preventative primary care with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other staff that takes time to talk with patients and to create an environment that millions have grown to trust.

5. It is one of the largest advocates for reproductive rights.

The organization stands in solidarity with the reproductive justice movement that is leading work at intersections of health care, social justice and racial justice. It assembles in the streets, in the states, and in Washington, D.C. to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Working with more than 275 campus groups (including Purchase), it engages young people around the world to help build the healthiest generation to come.

8. It has reduced our nation's alarmingly high rates of teen pregnancies.

Planned Parenthood is proud of its vital role in providing young people with honest sexuality and relationship information. It has reduced the rates of unintended teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections drastically.

Its 57 unique and locally governed affiliates nationwide operate 650 health centers, which reflect the diverse needs of their communities.
