It seems to me like every summer I'm googling things to do on Long Island or texting my friends if there is anything fun to do.

Through the years, I've been trying to compile a list of things to do so I am never bored. If you're like me and want to be constantly doing something, you've come to the right place because I've made a list to cure your boredom.

1. Photo Shoot with friends

Something my friends and I love to do is grab our cameras and head somewhere cute to take pictures. Recently, my friend and I went to the Old Westbury Gardens($10 with a student ID) and walked around and just snapped pictures throughout. This is a great way to have fun, hangout, and get great pictures for your Instagram.

2. City day

We live so close to the greatest city in the world so take advantage of that. Hop on the LIRR and before you know it, you're on seventh avenue and ready to take on whatever the day has to offer.

3. Beach

This should be a no-brainer. We live on an island. Drive 30 minutes in any direction and you'll find sand and water.

4. Pool party

For those of you who may not like sand or cold water or the beach in general, one of your friends is bound to have a pool if you don't. There's nothing wrong with spending the day lounging around on a pool float and just catching up with old friends. Bonus points if the pool has a hot tub!

5. Splish Splash

Tis the season for water parks! This one is super-convenient to Long Islanders because it's just a drive down the LIE to Riverhead. With so many rides and attractions to choose from, you could go a million times and never get bored. Be prepared for lines though, they can get pretty long.

6. Adventureland

I's not the best amusement park and definitely meant for younger children. However, it's always fun to go and relive some childhood memories.

7. Jones Beach Concert

I've actually never been to a Jones Beach Concert but I've heard it's incredible. With the bay in the background, I wouldn't expect any less.

8. Boardwalks

This is hands-down one of my favorite things. There's so many things boardwalks offer like food, mini golf, cute instagram photos and more! My favorite is Jones Beach but pick your poison among all Long Island has to offer.

So get your cameras out, pull your swimsuits out from the backs of your closest where they were hidden from snow, find some friends, and hop in the car. Go make memories to last a lifetime! See you at the beach!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
