Here are some things that college students might want for Christmas that you probably can’t find under the tree.
1. A real, home cooked meal
While in college, it is very unlikely to have a home cooked meal, or even a meal made entirely out of real food. We aren’t looking for a five-star meal, just something that isn’t cooked in mass quantities.
2. Some animal love
Whether it is your animal or a friend, everyone can do with more pets in their life. Most of college dorms don’t allow you to have more than a gold fish, so going home to the dog or cat that you’ve been missing can be a Christmas miracle in itself.
3. Sleep
Finding a college student that hasn’t been sleep deprived at some point of the semester is more difficult than finding Waldo in those books. Everyone just wants to sleep and have no alarms set for the next morning to deal with the impending amount of work they still have to get done.
4. To see some familiar face
Some people have not been able to reconnect with some of their best friends since the middle of August, myself being one of them. Meeting up with some friends that you haven’t seen since high school is one of the best parts of Christmas break.
5. A 4.0 GPA
This is a given. Sure, you work hard all semester and if you’re lucky it pays off, but there’s nothing wrong with asking for a 4.0 for Christmas in hopes that Santa can help you out.
6. Money
Whether it is to support your new addiction to caffeine or to buy some snacks because you’ve grown sick of the same three meals your dining hall offers, money is always a good way to go. It is also time to start thinking about the mass amount of money you’re about to spend on textbooks with the new semester on the way.
7. To relax
Going home for winter break means that you have no deadlines to oblige by because you’re between semesters. You are able to binge watch as much Netflix as you want without feeling guilty because there is some assignment you’re neglecting.
8. To have their own room again
Roommates are great and all, but there’s nothing like being able to walk into your own room and not have to use your phone flashlight to navigate around because someone is sleeping in there or not worrying that the music playing from your headphones is too loud and they might hear it.
