Are you 20-something? Do you miss the old Nickelodeon? So do I! Here are a few things about Nickelodeon that people in their 20s miss!

1. The shows were actually funny.

Not only were the shows great, but they were funny. The jokes were subtle enough that kids wouldn't understand, but parents understood the real meaning. Shows today are filled with sexual references that are, in my opinion, pretty obvious, even to a young child. What ever happened to a subtle joke?

2. The shows actually taught a valuable lesson.

Nowadays, the lesson for every show is nothing compared to what it used to be. When we were kids the lessons learned were about equality, bullying, and being who you are, only to name a few. In this day in age, it's about how to prevent your friend from being mad at you or how to become famous.

3. It was relatable.

The characters in Nickelodeon TV shows now aren't as relatable as they used to be. Now, I'm not saying that having Fairy God Parents is relatable, but it did make every child wish they were real. Most other cartoons, however, focused on a child around the age of the viewer. The show focused on what they go through in the day and it taught a lesson kids could take with them. In the shows not about a child, the characters were still going through things kids could relate to. Cartoons today are more focused on stupidity than teaching a lesson.

4. The acting was fairly decent.

Although there weren't a lot of Non-cartoon shows, when a show had actors, they were fairly decent. For instance, an all time favorite of mine was The Amanda Show. The show was not only funny, but the actors were very decent. They know how to make people laugh, and they did so while acting out very memorable characters.

5. Included shows the whole family could watch together.

Nickelodeon was known for having family-friendly shows. There were jokes for kids as well as adults. The jokes for children were also a subtle sexual joke for adults. That's why we 20-somethings enjoy the old shows so much, we finally understand the subtle sexual jokes.

6. Slime!

S. L. I. M. E. Nickelodeon was well known for pouring slime on anyone they could get their hands on. In their own take on an award show, The Kids Choice Awards, they would pour slime on as many famous movie stars and singers as possible. All the while kids were wondering what it feels like and does it have a taste? Slime for Nickelodeon was their signature, nowadays you don't see slime as often as we used to.

7. The beloved logo.

Not only has the quality of the shows changed, but so has the logo. The old logo was a bright splatter of beloved orange slime with a white Nickelodeon over it. Now it is a sad, boxy, and bland version.

8. Two words, Teen. Nick.
Not only are the cartoons not good anymore, but Nickelodeon released a teen version of Nickelodeon called TeenNick. The shows on this version focus on teens played by people way too old to be playing teens, and their life as they know it, all while not teaching very good lessons. The shows are focused more on boyfriend troubles or how to get famous than real valuable lessons.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
