8 Summer Destinations In The Mid-Atlantic Region

Yet another school year is behind us, and summer lovin' lies ahead. What are your plans this summer? Most of us will probably spend our weekdays working inside to save up some cash or put an internship experience on a resume. Probably all of us could use a little vacation...some "R & R" after a long winter. Luckily, we don't have to travel too far to get the vacation feeling we desperately need and deserve. All along the greater Mid-Atlantic coastline region there are beaches and amusement parks we may take for granted, while others travel from all over to visit these places. Here's some of the top Mid-Atlantic coastline destinations for some summer fun:

1) Delaware Beaches:

Beaches of Delaware, such as Rehobeth, Bethany, Dewey, and more, offer the best of everything to cater to anyone's idea of summer fun. There's food, cocktails, boardwalk rides, and different events all season. These beach areas offer fast-paced fun in a family friendly environment. Whether its on the beach watching the surfers or strolling through some shops, you'll definitely enjoy the summer breeze here.

2) Ocean City, Maryland:

For those of us seeking summer nightlife that lasts for twenty-four hours, Ocean City, Maryland is the place to be. With oceanfront high-rise hotels, bayside clubs, and thrill rides on all sides Ocean City never sleeps. Some of the favorites for nightlife include Macky's Bayside Bar and Grill and Seacrets, which are famous for their beautiful views and fun drinking challenges.

3) Long Island, NY:

If your idea of summer vacations doesn't include the fast-paced environment of Ocean City, head out to the beaches of Long Island. You can stay more local near Jones Beach or head far out to the Hamptons. These beaches have beautiful natural views, a relaxing beach atmosphere without crowding, food to die for, and shopping which can be equated to NYC''s Fifth Avenue. It's also only a little trip on the Long Island Rail Road back into the city for some nightlife, if you're feeling up to it.

4) Williamsburg Area, VA:

This area is the best of everything if you're not a beach person but need some summer fun. There's the historic triangle with Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown all offering a trip into the past. The colonial buildings and attire, native American villages, and ships create a getaway experience you can't compare to any other. When you're ready for more action, there's Water Country USA and Busch Garden to offer thrilling attractions.

5) Mountain Creek's Action Park, NJ:

If you're a thrill-seeker you definitely want to check out Mountain Creek's Action Park in Vernon, NJ. This waterpark offers some of the tallest, fastest, and most heart-pounding (literally) water slides in the USA. The real thrill though isn't their slides, but their non-conventional attractions such as rope swings, rapids, and a cliff jump.

6) Atlantic City Area:

For those of us who are of legal age, nowhere is better to be in the summer than Atlantic City, NJ. Known for the longest boardwalk in the world, this city offers food, entertainment, nightlife, and of course gambling better than anywhere on this side of the USA. When you finally tire from the sleepless nights and you've won some cash at the casino, head over to Smithville, NJ. This historic and quiet town offers unique shopping, paddle boating, and a homey atmosphere to recover from your life in the fast lane in Atlantic City.

7) Six Flags Great Adventure, NJ:

The thrill-seeker, dare-devil type should most certainly check out Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ for the ultimate adrenaline rush. Great Adventure has the world's tallest and fastest rollercoaster, Kindga Ka which boasts 456 feet in height and 128 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds. In addition to Kingda Ka the park has sixteen other thrill rides, including wooden coasters, as well as smaller rides for those who aren't so daring. Just next to the park there's a Safari attraction as well as a waterpark, Hurricane Harbor to cool off.

8) Jersey Shore Area:

From Sandy Hook down to Cape May, the Jersey Shore is where you can find the entire summer vacation package you're looking for. Contrary to the judgement this area receives world-wide based on the MTV series Jersey Shore, those who know the area know that it is unlike any other. The best beachfront and bayside nightlife, the most delicious Italian cuisine and pizza, the best greasy boardwalk food, the most thrilling boardwalk rides, the best children's rides, and the most quiet and private beaches for relaxation available. Its typical to see surfers, bike riders, and long-boarders traveling the streets with sandy feet and salty hair. Its typical to feel on top of the world driving down Ocean Avenue or over any bridge that leads to the barrier islands. No feeling in the world can compare to summer at the Jersey Shore.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
