It's fun at first, but then it hits you that you won't have any real cooking for nine months out of the year.

8 Struggles Of Going To College Far From Home.

Going to college far from home is something many people face in their late teens and 20s. While being at school has many positive aspects like new-found freedoms and adventures, there are still many things you miss from being home and stories you might not be able to share.

1.) Not being able to go home for holidays. (Thanksgiving, Easter, etc.)

It's no secret that flights and gas are expensive. After buying all those pricey textbooks and other school supplies you need, you barely have money for food, let alone a trip home. Also, going all the way home to only enjoy it for maybe one day (if you don't sleep all day because the trip wore you out) seems really hard. Hanging out alone in your dorm or awkwardly staying with your friend's family somehow is what you always end up doing.

2.) Communication with your family is really hard (because of the time difference).

"I can talk at 5 o'clock if that works for you."

"Your time or my time??"

Since I live in Arizona and go to school in New York, my family is three hours behind me when I am at school. They call me either when I'm in class, studying in the library or my dorm, or when I'm out with friends. It's really hard trying to find a time when everyone is free and able to talk.

3.) Missing some of the little big marks in your siblings life.

"You have to take a picture with a picture of me!"

"That's weird."

Prom, formals, birthdays, school plays, sports events, are all examples of the little big things that mark your siblings growing up. Living far from home prevents you from being there to actually watch all these huge steps.

4.) Missing your mom's homemade food.

Dining hall food is the worst. What you would do just to have your mom's signature dish instead of a crappy serving of "meat".

5.) Your family missing award ceremonies at college.

"Please invite your parent/guardians to celebrate with us" - well that isn't happening.

6.) Being away for so long from your babies (aka your animals).

It feels like, "wait send me a picture of the dog", is every other text message to your parents.

7.) Missing your bed.

Nothing is better than your own bed. Dorm beds are NOT as comfy as the bed in your own room, no matter how nice your mattress cover is. The fact you only spend about 4 months a year in your own bed is very sad realization.

8.) Missing your family

Although you love your college, you still miss your family. Getting homesick is something that is common, especially when you don't see your family. After all, there really is no place like home.

Although it can be difficult going to school far away from home, it makes the time you have with your family at home more precious. You quickly realize how much your family supports you and how important time with them is.

Forever your number ones.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
