World-famous British physicist Stephen Hawking died at the age of 77. Mankind will always remember him not only for his groundbreaking cosmic theories but for his unbreakable and indestructible strength through his struggle with ALS.

Here are only 8 out of his multitude of memorable quotes to inspire you through your day:

1.On humans

“We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.” - Interview, Der Spiegel, October 1988

2. On the end of the universe

“It will take about a thousand million million million million years for the Earth to run into the sun, so there's no immediate cause for worry!” - A Brief History Of Time, 1988

3. On persistence

"However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don't just give up." - at an Oxford University Union speech, 2016

4. On what happens when you die

“I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark." - Speaking to the Guardian in 2011.

5. On intelligence

"I would never claim this. People who boast about their IQ are losers." - in response to a 2017 question if he believed he was the most intelligent person in the world.

6. On adapting

“Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” - A Briefer History of Time, 2005

7. On faith

"God may exist, but science can explain the universe without the need for a creator." - in a CNN interview, 2010

8. On life

“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don't throw it away” - Interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, June 2010

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating.
