8 Songs From Middle School You Still Need In Your Life
Business Insider

The other day, I came across a quote. "Suddenly, you're 21, and you're screaming along in the car to all the songs you listened to when you were sad in middle school and everything is different but everything is good."

This got me thinking about all the AMAZING music I used to listen to in middle school. So I listened to all of the songs I used to love, the ones that put me in the best mood, and, sure enough, they still do. Some of these didn't even come out when we were in middle school, but they were still our favorites. Here's some of my favorites.

1. Ocean Avenue - Yellowcard (2003)

The song tells a story of a guy wanting to get his girl back. What I love about this song is that you can always relate it to something. We all have something we had at one point that we want back. This is the song you blast on the highway when you're having a rough day.

2. Mr. Brightside - The Killers (2004)

This song sold over three million copies in the US and was named "Song of the Decade" by various UK radio stations. I agree 100 percent with these radio stations. This is the song you listen to when things just aren't going your way and life seems unfair. Also, this seems to be the song everyone knows, so play it around your friends.

3. When You Look Me In The Eyes - Jonas Brothers (2007)

This was the song everyone wanted to dance with their crush to. How could anyone forget it? I get a little upset over the fact that the Jonas Brothers aren't a thing anymore, but they had a great run. If you need a good cry, listen to this throwback. For some reason, it still hits me right in the feels.

4. Check Yes Juliet - We The Kings (2007)

We The Kings never really took off and became the big, popular group that they were fully capable of being. However, they did have some hidden hits, like this one. The song tells a story of how a guy just wants to be with the girl he loves, but something is holding them back. Plus, when the beat picks up in the chorus, it's a real headbanger.

5. Fergalicious - Fergie (2006)

If you don't remember this song, just stop reading this article right now. Fergalicious was THE anthem. I remember listening to this song on my way to just about anywhere and always having a blast. I can still put this song on and rap the whole song. Plus, how else would I know how to spell T to the A to the S-T-E-Y?

6. Best Of Me - The Starting Line (2002)

When you hear the first 10 seconds of the song, you think it's about to be a slow one... that is, until the drop hits, and you start to rock out. The song is about a guy who went through a rough stage and is now ready to give his all to his girl. This is your song to scream the lyrics to.

7. 1985 - Bowling For Soup (2004)

This might be the best song ever created. This was the song everyone listened to and sang together. This was also the first song we all heard that had a "bad" word in it. This song was catchy and a total banger. Definitely a song on everyone's throwback playlist. I also find it funny that none of us were alive in 1985, yet we all somehow relate.

8. Lips Of An Angel- Hinder (2005)

And to close off the list, Lips Of An Angel, possibly the best slow song of our middle school days. This love ballad was a great song to scream if you were sad or if you were happy. Listening to the song now, I want to know why we thought Hinder had great voices... it sounds a bit like Nickelback to me. Either way, this song breaks your heart and puts it back together again.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
