Everyone has their daily routines that they stick to. Some exercise before work, while others go after. Some like to get up early to drink coffee and sit outside. Others like to drink tequila and sit at a lounge table until 3:00 a.m. Either way, we all live our lives the way that we think is good for us. However, as we know it, there is always room for improvement. Have you ever wanted to spice up life a little bit? Here are some tricks to enhance life.
1. Do something that someone would never expect.
People judge you based on your words, mannerisms, and actions. They trap you into this idea of who they see you as, not really who you are. So, surprise them and surprise yourself. Do something out of the blue that would surprise them. It can be as little as singing karaoke at a party or playing the ukulele for a stranger on the street. Be whoever you want to be. You might end up surprising yourself the most.
2. Spend at least twenty minutes per day meditating or doing yoga.
Become a zen master by spending time meditating or doing yoga. This will strengthen your relationship with yourself and make you learn how to appreciate yourself. Yoga leads to increased flexibility, an increase in vitality and energy, and a decrease in stress. There's only winning in yoga and meditation.
3. When someone tells you that you can't do something, try it anyway.
There's no pain in trying and, once you do try, you feel better than if you had not tried at all. So, if someone tells you that you can't do something, laugh at them and then try. It's not for the sake of proving them wrong, it's for the sake of proving to yourself the willpower that you have.
4. Eat a wholesome breakfast.
There's no better way to start the day than a nice, hearty breakfast. Don't just eat cereal, eat something that will keep you full and energized. Make an omelette with spinach and mushrooms or spread an avocado on toast. Your body will thank you for providing nutrients to wake up and conquer the day.
5. Watch a movie that you've never seen before.
People tend to stick to what they feel the most comfortable with. I guarantee that there's a movie that you've watched a hundred times. Is it "Mean Girls" or "Harry Potter?" Set them aside and watch something new. This will open your perspective on everything. Watch a movie that you would never watch. It might surprise you. You can start with critically-acclaimed movies, which will help you watch a different movie every time.
6. Invite a friend the next time that you do something.
Whether it's doing homework, going for a hike, or cooking dinner, invite a friend. There's nothing like sharing an experience with someone who you're close to. Relationships make life worth living. They create memories that forever bring happiness and an inseparable connection. Your friends can bring the best out of you (depending on what kind of friends you have) and sharing the experience with them heightens their mood as well as yours.
7. Try something that you've never done before.
Have you ever wanted to try something that you always dreamed about? As Shia Lebeouf said: "Just do it." Don't let fear control your inner aspirations. Trying a new activity engages the brain and enhances your life. It helps groom a well-blossomed passion, which makes life all the more worthwhile. You could surprise yourself be being amazing at something. Who knows, you could be the next great bagpipe player or beat-boxer.
8. Smile at a stranger.
Have you ever walked by someone who looks over at you and smiles? Sometimes, that smile sticks in our minds. That person never fades away from our minds and it imprints us forever. They are distinctly remembered, yet are complete strangers to us. Simply smiling at a stranger can make a world of difference. Not only does it improve their mood, but it improves yours. Even if you fake a smile, the effects can enhance your happiness. Just by smiling at a stranger, you could make their entire day. You could meet your prince charming or your future best friend all from a simple smile.
