1. Practice Driving Skills

Driving to school, especially a faraway one, will enhance your driving skills.

2. Explore Another School District

Consider going to a new school district as traveling. Teaching at a different school district will give teachers a new view of the world and academic politics.

3. Better Curriculum

Some school districts do not have a good curriculum. A good curriculum will meet the students' needs for college and success.

4. Better Pay

A good curriculum and a good, rich school district means more salary. A bad curriculum and bad, poor school district means less salary.

5. More Knowledge On Academic Politics

You will understand the difference between a good and a bad curriculum. You will understand how administrators regulate the schools. You will understand the importance of diversity in schools. You will understand student behavior. You will think about whether academics, extracurricular activities and school events are important for the students.

6. Suggest Your Siblings and Friends A School District For Their Children

As a teacher, you can tell your siblings and friends about the school district that you work at. If the school district is good, then their children can attend the schools in that district.

7. Working With Your Past Teachers Can Be Awkward

When you teach at a school from your past, you will realize that you are the youngest out of all of the teachers that you had. You probably have to call them by their first name instead of Mr., Mrs., or Ms. What about the teachers that you do not like? Do you want to see them again? Do you want to work with them? What's worse, what if you have to be friends with them?

8. Remembering The Past While Teaching At A School From The Past

Along with teachers you do not like, what if the school from your past provokes your memories as a student? Dealing with bullying might remind you of the time when you got bullied. Seeing immature students might remind you of the time when you were immature. Don't forget about nostalgia. You might miss the good memories. You might miss your friends. You might miss your crush, boyfriend, or girlfriend in the past.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
