1. Spending time with friends and/or family.
The Fourth of July is a holiday that is spent surrounded by the people you love. Whether you’re a little kid hanging out in the backyard with your cousins, a college student spending the Fourth in your college town with your closest friends, or an adult watching over your kids, there is always someone with you that cares about you and wants to spend time with you.
2. Seeing old friends.
As I said, college students usually go up to their college town (or a friend’s college town) to celebrate America. One of the reasons we would rather do this than be at home with our families is to see people we haven’t seen in a while. The Fourth of July is a great time to spend a long weekend with old friends and catch up, reminisce, and make new memories.
3. The outfits.
Let’s be real here, one of the best parts of the Fourth of July is getting all dressed up in red, white, and blue and trying to be as creative as possible with your outfit. This holiday is a great excuse to get dressed up in clothes that don’t match at all and be as weird and crazy with your outfit as you'd like.
4. Fireworks.
It’s a classic Fourth of July tradition, but it never gets boring. No matter how old you are, the fireworks are always a beautiful sight to see. They occur year after year, but they’re always so exciting to watch.
5. Food.
The classic Fourth of July BBQ isn’t the only thing I’m talking about when I bring up food, even though BBQs are always better on the Fourth. But besides the BBQs, it’s always fun to make Fourth of July-themed foods. From red, white, and blue cupcakes to an American flag cake, or red, white, and blue Jell-O shots for those who are of age, you can never go wrong with these fun themed foods.
6. Celebrate all day and all night.
The Fourth of July is one of the few holidays where the festivities begin as soon as you wake up and don’t end until practically the next day. The Fourth of July is basically a 24-hour celebration and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
7. Themed parties.
Okay sure, all the parties have practically the same theme, where you dress up in red, white, and blue, but what’s wrong with that? That just means you can party hop, no problem.
8. Cute pictures.
It’s pretty much necessary to have a full-on photo shoot on this holiday with an American flag and excessive amounts of red, white, and blue. It wouldn’t be the Fourth of July if you didn’t have a cute picture to put on Instagram with a caption along the lines of “red, white, and ____.”
