8 Reasons To Get A Dog In College

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring—it was peace.” —Milan Kundera

8 Reasons To Get A Dog In College

Not everyone lives off campus, which prevents him or her from having the ability to get a dog. If you have the opportunity, you should take it without question. The love and happiness a dog can bring into your life is unmatched by any friend, boyfriend or girlfriend. They will get you through college one step at a time, and when you fall they will be there to lick your face and pick you back up. There’s numerous ways they will help boost you up on the bad days, and even the good days, but these reasons can only be experienced when you bring home your dog, boy or girl, big or small. You’ll know your dog when you see them.

1. They can be your stress reliever.

Did you have a stressful day? Maybe a test you didn’t do well on? Your puppy will be at the front door with a wagging tail waiting to make you feel better. They don’t even need words to express their happiness that you are home with them. There is no better feeling than walking in the front door to see something that is genuinely SO excited to see you and make you smile.

2. They make you laugh.

Sometimes they don’t know what they are doing that is making you laugh the way you are, but they will keep doing it because they see how happy it makes you. Sometimes it’s just that one look, you know, the one that will send you into a giggle fit. Usually you didn’t even know you needed to laugh until it was happening, thanks to your pup!

3. They are always in the way.

But in the best way. They will be there when you go to bed. Be there when you wake up. Staring at your while you make your Ramen at one a.m., because they know you will end up sharing it. They are in the way when you’re sad, when you’re happy, when you’re angry. They will be there for anything and everything if you let them. They are the stalker you always wanted.

4. They won’t judge you.

So when you open that bottle of wine with the intention of drinking a glass, and before you know it the bottle is gone, there won’t be a judgmental look on your dog's face, unlike what you may get from a human friend. When you invite over that boy you know will break your heart, but he is just too cute, yeah, some may judge you for that, but your pup won’t.

5. When a guy (or girl) lets you down, your dog won’t.

Boys (or girls) will let you down, which is common in this life we call college. They will come and go, but your dog will be there till the end. They will never break your heart. They will be your shoulder, or fur, to cry on when your human friends are away. They will listen to your sob-talk when your human friends may not understand what words you’re saying. And when you decided you wanted to try dating again, they wont be scared to tell you who they like and who they don’t. When they become as comfortable around a new guy (or girl) as they are around you, keep that person around, because your dog will know what you need before you do.

6. They will be your adventure buddy.

On those sunny and 75 days that you decide to skip class (sorry, Dad!), because it is just too nice outside to be stuck inside learning about biology, your dog will always go with you. Your human friends will mostly likely still be in class or may not want to skip with you, but your dog will be 100 percent down to go explore the trails. Anyone that has a dog can tell you that the dog and dog-mom hiking days are the best days.

7. They will cuddle 24/7.

It doesn’t matter what time of the day it is, they will ALWAYS cuddle, and it will be the best thing to happen in your day. No matter your mood, or what you have to do that day, your dog will make time for you and you will love every second of it.

8. They are your best friend

We all have our human best friend and love them dearly. But nothing will ever compare to the friendship you will have with your dog. They will help you escape college with minimal bumps and bruises, and your bond will continue to grow once you graduate and move on to the adult world with them by your side for everything life throws at you.

Whether you buy, adopt or find a stray on the streets, if you decide you are taking on the responsibility of a lifetime best friend, it will be one of the best decisions of your life! Even on the bad days when they chew up something important to you, or decide using the bathroom in the apartment is a good idea, they will always keep life interesting and fun!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
