Even though we have an entire day dedicated to honoring our mothers, we should remember to cherish them and appreciate them every day. Just in case you need a refresher on how awesome you mom is, here's 8 reasons to for you to say thanks.
1. Keeping you alive.
It seems pretty basic, but someone had to feed you, make sure you had clean clothes, teach you to walk and talk, and so much more. None of us would be here without our mothers taking care of our every need since day one.
2. Always supporting you.
My mom was never big on sports, but every soccer game I saw her on the sidelines, cheering me on. She did my makeup for every dance recital, and was in the audience for every school play. No matter what we want to do in life, our mothers support our dreams.
3. Being a shoulder to cry on.
Sometimes, you just need someone to vent and cry with. Whether it's stress from school, friends, or work, your mom will always be there to lend an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. You can dump your worries on her for a little bit and she'll always be there to listen.
4. Her advice.
After you vent out your stresses and worries, your mom probably breaks out a piece of her classic wisdom. I used to roll my eyes at my mom's sayings and advice, but it turns out she's usually right.
5. Dealing with your angsty teen phase.
My mom dealt with my eye rolls, rebellious fashion choices, and near-constant attitude during middle school and high school, and for that I am forever grateful.
6. Being so hardworking.
Whether your mom stayed at home to raise you or worked to jobs to make ends meet, our moms work their butts off every single day to make sure our families have the best. My mom consistently works overtime in order to help pay for me and my siblings' education so that we achieve our dreams, and I'm thankful every day.
7. Instilling good values.
While I absolutely hated it at the time, my mom demanded the best from her kids. We were raised to have respect for adults, know the importance of family, have good manners, and be responsible and hardworking. I'm glad I was raised with these values, and want to pass them on to my children someday.
8. Loving unconditionally.
No matter what you do or where you go in life, your mom will always be there and will always love you.
