8 Reasons To Thank Your Sophomore Year Roommate

For those of you who decided to go with a new roommate this year, it is most likely because you two hit it off after you already had a roommate for the previous year. For whatever reason it did not workout with your previous roommate, you are super excited to be rooming with your BFF this year! You two are super close, can talk for hours, and do almost everything together. This school year you are much more confident to live on campus at your home away from home with someone who is like family. Here are twelve reasons you need to thank your new roomie.

1. Thank your roomie for accepting you for who you are.

For whatever reason, it did not work out with your roomie last year. Whether it was a big blowout or simply just different personalities, this year you were on a hunt to find someone who accepted you for you, fell in love with your personality, and enjoyed your company so much that they want to live with you. Thank them for accepting your flaws, your quirks, and your goofy side along with all the good stuff that makes you, you.

2. Thank your roomie for having your back.

Whether you are stressed about your classes, homesick, or arguing with your significant other, your roomie is always there, ready to listen to you vent about your short-term, or even long-term, problems.

3. Thank your roomie for putting you in line.

As stressful as college can be, it can also be totally rewarding. You have so much freedom and you’re introduced to new things constantly; your opportunities become endless. Your roomie is most likely your partner-in-crime when it comes time for play, but they also know when to tell you to get your life together, when your taking something too far, and when you need to focus on your work.

4. Thank your roomie for taking care of you as much as they do themselves.

We all have those nights where we are hungry but don’t feeling like making food, don’t feel like taking off our makeup before we go to sleep, or cleaning our rooms. If it weren’t for your roomie, you would be a mess!

5. Thank your roomie for making your favorite shows their favorite show.

Sharing the same room almost immediately results in sharing the same interests. You begin binge-watching Netflix series together and scold each other if one of you is ahead of the other.

6. Thank your roomie for missing you while you are away.

After sleeping in the same room together for weeks at a time, you would think your roommate would be sick of you, but they are not. Suddenly, you are home for a weekend or holiday break and you cannot help but smile when you get that “I miss you roomie” text. It feels good to know that someone could actual enjoy your presence that much.

7. Thank your roomie for having patience with you.

Let’s be honest, spending too much time with anyone can at times be frustrating. Different schedules, daily routines, or mood swings may cause you to clash from time to time. Thank your roomie for always having patience with you when you’re moody, winy, lazy, loud, messy, or just being a pain in the butt!

8. Thank your roomie for making your college experience one to remember.

Your college roommate can make or break your college experience. Thank your roomie for being your best friend, making memories with you that will last a lifetime, for learning with you, growing with you, and helping to shape you into the best person you can become.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
