At the end of the semester, it's sometimes too easy to get caught up in the stress of school and the sadness of only being able to see your friends for a few more short weeks. As we reach finals week, I often find myself feeling kind of strained; I’m ready for a break, but I also don’t want to leave my friends and miss an entire month of shenanigans.
So, if for whatever reason you’re feeling the stress that the end of the semester tends to bring, read on for a little inspiration to help you remember how awesome you are (because, seriously, you rock).
If that B- falls to a C+ last minute, remember that you’ll still have a meaningful career someday. Classes will sometimes drag you down; it happens to everyone.
If it feels like everyone made plans without you when you’re home on a Friday night, remember that being alone is sometimes exactly what you need.
If it seems like no one is swiping right to you on Tinder, remember that Tinder is the sh*thole of dating apps. Meet someone organically next time.
If you hate your holiday job and consider walking out everyday, remember that paycheck you’ll be getting next week. Money isn’t everything, but sometimes it feels way too good to have a few extra dollars in your bank account.
If that guy reads your cute text and doesn’t respond, remember that you’re not disposable. It’s his loss.
If finals week is sucking all the life out of you, remember that you get a whole month off, and next semester is a fresh start.
If you’re worried about all those questions Aunt Sally is going to ask you at Christmas, remember that she’s just trying to make conversation. You can keep your cool.
If it feels like everything is going perfectly for everyone around you, remember that everyone’s got their own thing going on that you don’t know about. And you’re more fortunate than you realize.
Hopefully these little reminders are exactly what you needed to feel more inspired at the end of this semester. No matter what’s got you down – your grades, missing your friends, or a dumb boy – next semester is a fresh start.
Now curl up with a blanket, a mug of hot chocolate, some jazzy holidays tunes, and an evergreen scented candle. This is the most wonderful time of the year, and you deserve to enjoy it.
