8 Reasons To Love Your Little Brother

I may be a little biased but I truly believe that there is no bond like that between a big sister and a little brother. As an older sister myself, I’ve watched my brother grow over the years into the amazing person that he is now. Looking back, I remember how I would hover over him when he was a baby, proud to have someone looking up to me. Now, he is the one hovering over me (because I’m short) and is not only a younger brother but a friend and someone that will always be there for me. So here are some reasons to show a little love for your brother:

1. You always have a partner in crime to carry out your craziest ideas.

Whether it was the crazy obstacle course that we built in our backyard or convincing our parents to take us to random places, we always had each other to look to for support while having fun in the process. You gain a whole new sense of power when you team up with your sibling.

2. He tries to protect you.

He will help you feel better when you’re feeling down and will do what he can to show that he cares for you. He may not show it but don't be fooled-- there is a lot of truth to this statement.

3. You and him have a secret handshake that never gets old.

As kids, this handshake always came in handy after we had fights because it was our way of showing that everything is okay and that we're cool. 12 years later and it's still cute:)

4. He keeps it real—he doesn’t sugarcoat anything.

He will tell you what you need to hear and will make your life easier by doing so. Need some advice? Ask your brother-- his blunt, straightforward approach may actually help you significantly even if it is annoying.

5. You have someone looking up to you and learning from the mistakes that you have made.

So all those years of rebellion have paid off and have helped shape someone's personality and outlook on life...what a relief!

6. He brings out the best in you.

Having a brother teaches you important lessons, including the importance of selflessness and compassion.

7. You get to watch him mature and grow into an awesome guy, firsthand.

One of life's gifts is being able to observe this change and realizing that you're not the only one getting all the goods from your parents. My brother gives me hope in humanity and I am proud to be his sister.

8. He will not judge you so you can be yourself around him.

He's known you his whole life so your weirdness does not phase him one bit. If you mess up, he won't judge you but instead may throw in some sassy comments and then proceed to talk your parents out of grounding you.

The list goes on but these are some reasons as to why having a little brother is awesome. I know that I’m very thankful for my little brother. Once you get past the fights and the jealousy, you’ll quickly understand that this relationship is something to hold onto and that it is unlike any other. So next time you see your little brother, give him a nice big hug and be appreciative of the things he does for you because, when everything seems to be going wrong, he will always be there in the background cheering you on.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
