As spring break approaches, students are probably trying to figure out where they and their friends are going to spend a week of fun. For most people, the obvious answer is going somewhere warm, where you can sit on a beach and do nothing all day. But nothing beats a fun, snowy vacation with friends or family.
1. You don't have to deal with sand.
When you go to the beach for a vacation, you're constantly covered in sand. You'll find it in your shoes, your pants, and even in your suitcase when you get back home. There's no way for you to bring snow back home with you, no matter how much you may want to.
2. No one cares if you repeat outfits.
It's totally acceptable to wear the same ski pants every day until it's borderline gross. The same can't be said for bathing suits and cover ups.
3. There's no need to work out like a crazy person.
No one's ever said they need to work on their 'winter body.' For a winter vacation, there's no need to go to the gym all the time or feel anxious about how you're going to look in a bathing suit. Layers and sweaters are your best friend in cold weather, meaning there's no need to kill yourself on the stair master.
4. Snow is better than sand.
Snow doesn't stick to your skin or cause rashes or make you feel dirty all the time. Like I said before, you find sand on your stuff weeks after you got back. Also, snow is more fun than sand in general, you can have snow ball fights, make snow men, and make snow angels. If you try to throw sand at someone, you'll probably just get yelled at.
5. Snow allows for (enjoyable) family bonding.
There's so much you can do to bond with your family in cold weather. Skiing, sledding, or just playing in the snow lets families bond more than lying on a beach frying in the sun does. Also, nothing brings families together like complaining about how cold it is.
6. You can eat as much filling, warm food as you want.
It's 100 percent true that winter food is better than summer food. Stews and rich soups definitely trump salads. Plus, you can eat as much of it as you want, as staying warm in winter requires having more fat. So eat up.
7. You don't have to deal with sunburns.
I'm freakishly prone to burning in the sun, so the one perk of vacationing in the snow is that you don't have to deal with burning the skin off of most of your body. The only thing you have to worry about is a really weird goggle tan.
8. Snow falling is way prettier than sun shining and blue skies.
When snow falls, it's magical, and a fresh layer of snow on the ground makes anything better. A clear sky and some sun has nothing on a winter wonderland.
