There are many similarities at every college basketball game: rowdy students, excited children, proud alumni, etc. One thing that makes each game unique is the sound of the college basketball band. This group of band nerds is the source of all the hype that flows in any basketball arena. From chants to tunes, we make sure fans stay engaged to carry their team to victory, no matter the score. Here are some examples of how we do our job.
1. We are literally the craziest fans there.
Yeah, students are crazy, but have you ever talked to a band kid?
2. We have the best celebratory dances.
Another three-pointer? Time for another dance.
3. We are the best dressed at the game.
Something has to distract the other team, so why not a shark playing a saxophone?
4. Our mascots even want to be in the band.
Baby Jay and the Spartan have the right idea.
5. Men's or women's basketball, we are there to make sure the other team misses as many free throws as possible.
Whether you sing the ABC's or do what this band does, distracting the opponent attempting a free throw is a pivotal part of being in the band.
6. We have the coolest names.
Cameron Crazies = Duke.
Olympic Sport Band = North Carolina
The OU band is called Sound of the Sooners (I think we should be called the Boomer Brigade).
7. March Madness brings out our true crazy!
Not only do we get into our home games for free, but we get free travel and accommodations for March Madness tournaments. This allows us to show our true spirit by being crazy supportive.
8. At the end of the day, we live and die by our team.
Nothing compares to playing your fight song after a tough loss, but the love for our team is still undying.
