8 Questions That Are The Root Of All Evil For A Graduating Senior

Chances are if you are graduating college soon, you have had this conversation about 2,763 times since the beginning of the semester, and you are so tired of it. These questions add so many stressful thoughts on top of your current state of impending doom.

Now, you can happily refer those who ask these questions to this simple piece of literature where all of their questions will be answered. You're welcome in advance.

1. "Are you excited?!"

Am I excited to graduate, go through the job-hunt struggle, move to a strange place where I know absolutely zero people and support myself completely with no help from my parents for the first time ever? No.

Am I excited to never attend another butt-numbing hour and 15-minute lecture, take another essay exam, write another paper, "provide my own scantron," or read another chapter of a book written by someone trying to sound over-educated? Yes.

2. "What are your plans after you graduate?"

Find a job. Preferably one that pays. Possibly one I actually enjoy. Join society as a functioning adult. Yeah, something like that. Basically, I don't have a clue. Thanks for asking. *bursts into tears*

3. "How is your last semester/year going?"

I'm on the home stretch of 17+ years of sitting in classrooms, doing homework, taking tests and listening to teachers blab. How do you think it is going? I'm tired of spending my life doing school work that has no real-world relevance. I literally just want to get the heck out of here. It is going great. *sarcastic smile*

4. "What do you want for graduation?"

Some David Yurman. A Louis Vuitton tote. Money. A European vacation. A year's worth of rent. My student loans paid off. A car. A house. Pretty much everything I'm terrified of never being able to afford without my parents. With a nice red bow on top.

5. "What's your major again?"

Hold on, let me check my DegreeWorks...Not sure where I left off in the major changing game.

6. "Oh...What can you even do with that?"

Well my gosh, I do not know. The plan is to get a job in a respective field and do something with my life. But who knows, right?! I guess I'll just use my college degree to be a Starbucks Barista. *rolls eyes*

7. "What kind of job do you want?"

One that pays me money. Seriously, I'll take anything. Why, do you know someone hiring?! *hands over resume*

8. "Are you so ready to be independent from your parents?"

It really takes a level of clarifying maturity to understand this answer but.....no. I am not ready to pay my car insurance, gas, health insurance, rent, utilities, groceries, etc. Are you kidding me? No thanks. Independence sucks. Grad school is sounding really nice...*curls into ball*

Seriously, graduation is coming soon and all of us seniors are completely terrified.

Please offer hugs and encouragement rather than questioning our future. Because we prefer not to think about it until the last possible moment.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
