We all get in fights with our S.O. We all say or do things we regret but in relationships there are certain lines that shouldn't be crossed. The thing is words hurt and you can't take them back or say sorry enough to erase something you said in the heat of the moment. Here are some things you should never say to your S.O.:
1. "I don't need you."
This one hurts. Everyone wants to be needed, especially in a relationship. Couples need to need each other in some way. Yeah sure, maybe it shouldn't be clingy AF but just needing someone on your side to cuddle is enough. Don't say that you don't need them, no matter how mad you are, because truth is...you do need them.
2. "You drag me down."
You're holding me back is another way to say this one. Only you can hold yourself back, so don't put that guilt on your S.O. because they won't forget those words...ever. If you aren't moving forward that's on you so don't scream that at them when they are pissing you off.
3. Any derogatory term.
Bitch, slut, whore, idiot, bastard, asshole. These words don't hep anything and chances are if you really thought this about your S.O. you wouldn't be with them. It's rude and hurtful so keep you cruel words to yourself. Treat your S.O. how you'd like to be treated.
4. "I was talking to other guys/girls because you weren't giving me enough attention."
Or I sent nudes to Chad. I hear girls talking about doing this all the time. If you are sending nudes to Chad then chances are your S.O. will find out. So please, stop. If your S.O. isn't making you happy anymore, move on. Don't put cheating in their head and scar them for future relationships. Once that trust is broken, it's impossible to get back.
5. "You're only good for sex."
They aren't a tool or a sex toy. No matter how mad you are, reel this one in. It's a really shitty thing to say and will make your S.O. feel like you don't even love them. Also side note, if you are trying to have a child REALLY don't say this or there will be a wedge in your relationship forever. Your So will wonder if you ever loved them or just wanted their sperm.
6. "You'll never be anything."
Or you can't do X, Y, Z. Would you want someone shitting on your dream, even if it seems impossible? No. So walk away from the relationship or support your S.O. Even if they want to be a famous pop star but sound like a tone-deaf sea lion singing the national anthem. Support your S.O. and their dreams. Always.
7. "You deserve to be alone."
No one deserves to be alone. This could even push an S.O. towards committing suicide if they feel no one wants them around or they don't deserve happiness. Words can seriously deteriorate someone's mind. You don't need that on your conscious so be quiet.
8. 'You're just like your mother/father."
This is one of the worst things you can EVER say to your S.O. Don't say it. Trust me. Don't. It'll only end badly for you.
