8 Phases You Have After You Get A Haircut

Getting your hair cut can be a great or shocking experience. You go into a salon and put yourself into the hands of someone else, leaving you with no control. The outcome is completely up to the person behind you. Whenever they show you your hair in the mirror, you either love it or hate it. Here are the phases you go through after you get a haircut.

1. The phase where you love it.

This starts when you start looking in the mirror and leave the salon chair. You look at yourself and wonder how anyone could look this fantastic. You exit the salon feeling great about your new look.

2. The phase where you realize you made a HUGE mistake.

This when you get to your next destination and slowly realize you don’t look the same anymore. You get nervous thinking about what everyone else thinks and why you would ever do this. You may or may not cry at this point.

3. The phase where you tell yourself you can fix it.

This is the phase where you reassure yourself this look cannot be permanent. You think about how you can change either back to what you originally had or an entirely different style. You may even consider just shaving your head.

4. The phase where realization sets in that this is, in fact, your new haircut.

This is the phase where you've thought about everything you could possibly do to fix your hair. You now realize it would be easier to stick with what you have and let it grow out. You now cry just because there's nothing left to do.

5. The phase where you sort of hide the fact you "fixed" your hair.

This is the phase where hoodies are the best. You hide yourself behind the hood so no one else knows you don't look the same. You may also wear hats when you go out and tell people you decided to make a fashion statement.

6. The phase where everyone tells you how great your hair looks.

This is the phase where you finally start to come out of your cocoon and people tell you how great you look. You now realize you made the right choice when you chopped your hair off. You may also flip your hair back and forth for effect.

7. The phase where you finally accept your new 'do.

This is the phase that can start a couple hours/days/months/etc. after you get your hair cut. You have finally settled into yourself again and cannot believe that you didn't like it before.

8. The phase where you go back to pinning for new ideas.

This is the phase where you've gotten tired of your "old" haircut. You think that now has been long enough for this out of date style. You go bak to the salon for another try at changing your hair.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
