Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! This year has been a big one for new gadgets and products that make for perfect Christmas gifts, and after surveying some of the gifts I have seen under the tree today, I have chosen 8 of the hottest Christmas presents of this year.

1. Patagonia clothing.

This one is kind of a no-brainer. A classic gift - you can never go wrong with a Patagonia jacket. Although this is a classic, I would still say it holds its place in the top 8 hottest gifts, just because of how darn great Patagonia products are.

2. Beats.

Beats have come into play somewhat recently. Big headphones were out of style for many years - but thanks to Beats they have made their comeback. These great headphones have some serious comfort levels and produce great sound, saving your ears from the irritating pain of earbuds.

3. Name Necklaces.

A bit of a trend this year is to wear your name loud and proud on a necklace for everyone to see. A great site to find these necklaces are "MyNameNecklace.com", which provides many different styles and fonts to appeal to whoever will receive this fabulous gift.

4. Speakers.

Speakers are a great gift for anyone, young and old. One that I received this year is this mini speaker from Etekcity. Along with the speaker comes an aux cord that you plug into your phone and a charging cable with a USB port. Easily charged, this speaker is great for on the go - and even makes for a good stocking stuffer.

5. Sports Tickets.

Unless you aren't a sports fan, tickets for your favorite team for you and a loved one is a perfect gift. If you aren't materialistic, getting a gift for you and someone to do something together is a perfect alternative. Hopefully they have some good sales during the holidays!

6. Virtual Reality Headsets.

Unless you live under a rock, you'll know that these virtual reality headsets are all the hype this year. Put on a pair of these bad boys and you'll feel like you're in a totally different place. Talk about a cool gift if plane tickets are too much to spend!

7. Fitbits.

(Source: dev.fitbit.com)

Another gift that is all the craze. With a Fitbit, you can track your steps during the day, total distance traveled, sleep rate, heart rate, flights climbed, and calories. You can even compete in competitions with friends who also have Fitbits. These little gadgets are a perfect way to stay fit while having fun with it.

8. iPad Air.

If you have an older relative who is hesitant about technology and doesn't want to deal with the hassle of a laptop or computer, an iPad is the perfect solution. With easy access to e-mails, the internet, a camera, and messaging, anyone who is hesitant to try out an iPad shouldn't even worry.

Those were the 8 gifts that I thought to be the hottest gifts of Christmas this year! I would bet that you or someone you know might have given or even received one of these gifts this year. Have fun with your new gifts and Happy Holidays!!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
