8 Christian Books All Girls In High School And College Should Read

Throughout high school and college,I have had a lot of people invest in me through books. I have enjoyed reading them all so much and a few of them have had a major impact on my life. Books sometimes are the things that God uses to speak to us and while all these books aren’t without their flaws they are definitely books I would encourage you read, learn, and grow from and see how God moves in your life.

Radical

If you need an encouraging book for you to share the gospel with people, Radical is nothing short of that and will have you excited to share the gospel and live Radically when you are finished. David Platt is one of my favorite people and this book was so reaffirming to God's call on my life.

Living the Cross Centered Life

Mahoney focuses on keeping the gospel at the center of your life and most importantly Jesus work on the cross. This book offers a good and refreshing perspective on the cross and how we as Christians should live. Mahoney even offers five practical ways that will help us live with the cross at the center of our lives.

Love Does

Bob Goff does a good job at encouraging Christians to do more than worry about what the Bible says. He does a good job at showing the reader what love looks like and makes good points on how to join Jesus in His work daily.

Doctrine

This was a never a book that I had a desire to read but I am so thankful I did. Mark Driscoll writes this book to help Christians understand their faith better. I walked away multiple times from reading this book with my mind blown and a better understanding of what I believe and why.

Uninvited

This is probably my most highly recommended book. Lysa TerKeurst writes to the person that feels less than, left out, and lonely. She teaches about how we can live loved in a world where it is hard to feel loved sometimes. This book was an eye-opener to how much God loves us and she is very good at pointing the reader continually back to Christ.

Don't Waste Your Life

John Piper challenges us to set aside our own life and to be in full pursuit of Christ. Our lives matter and other people's lives matter and our lives should be spent to glorify Christ and serve him. Piper was extremely encouraging in day to day life and my walk with Christ.

Praying for Your Future Husband

As girls, a husband is something we all long for. Robin Jones Gunn is one of my favorite writers and she does a great job explaining how we can pray for our future husbands now and also the different things we can be praying for. I have seen myself grow tremendously in the area of prayer and patience in this aspect of life.

Wait and See

This is one I have yet to read but am waiting for the day that I get to. Wendy Pope writes on King David and about waiting and the Person of our faith rather than the object of our wait. If you are anything like me you are really bad at waiting so I am excited to see how this book speaks to me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
