Life is hard, and sometimes life throws us into difficult situations. We search and search in attempt to discover the answers to our problems. However, no matter how hard we search, we inevitably fail to find the answers. Instead of initially trying to solve our trials by worldy means, we should first turn to God and his Word. Here are eight Bible verses that personally help me through times of trial. I hope they may do the same for you.

1. Ephesians 4:29

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

2. Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

3. Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

4. 2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and self-control.

5. Proverbs 4:23

Guard your heart above all things, for everything you do flows from it.

6. Philippians 4:8

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.

7. 1 Timothy 4:12

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.

8. Romans 8:18

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from.
