If you're someone like me, you watch more Youtube videos on your laptop than you do television shows on your TV. There's just something about the spontaneity of Youtube and being able to search whatever you feel like viewing that day that is more appealing than re-runs of shows I've already seen on the TV. And if you're also someone like me, you're constantly looking for new content to watch on Youtube as well. So here are seven Youtube channels I recommend for you!
1. CTFxC
Charles Trippy created the "Charles Trippy Friend Corp" or CTFxC six years ago, back in 2009. His first video being titled "Red Sox in Your Face (5.1.09 - Day 1)." In the description, it says "Day one of the reality show" and what a show it's been. Charles Trippy has documented his life everyday for the past six years. In his videos, you watch the life of a simple man as it changes into something spectacular because of the world of Youtube. You watch as Charles starts new journeys of his life, getting married and eventually getting divorced, being picked up as a bassist for the pop band We The Kings, fighting brain cancer, even having his own brain surgery filmed! The past six years have even gained Charles a Guinness World Record for "Most consecutive daily personal video blogs posted on Youtube" and rightfully so. Some people may think watching someone's life every day might be boring, but you never know what tomorrow might bring for them!
2. Good Mythical Morning (Rhett & Link)
Rhett and Link have been friends since they were in the sixth grade. Now well into their thirties and having families of their own, their channel on Youtube is a family-friendly morning talk show based channel where the duo do all sorts of funny and entertaining sketches and challenge videos. They do what they call "Will It" videos, which consist of taking regular foods such as donuts and Hot Pockets and seeing if stranger things such as dirt and worms "will" with that food. If you ask me, a donut filled with worms definitely doesn't "will". There are other aspects to their channel, such as "Song Biscuits" which are usually 2-3 minute videos of the guys coming up with a song on the spot taken from viewer suggestions. There is also a new segment called "Good Mythical Crew" which gives the viewers some behind the scene action with the crew of people who help put on Good Mythical Morning, such as when the crew members had to go and find leeches for a recent video called "Fish Bait Taste Test". These two are a lot of fun to watch, whether they're eating something they probably shouldn't be or breaking out into song!
3. Tyler Oakley
Tyler Oakley started making Youtube videos when he was in college, just a boy in his dorm talking to his computer. Now 27-years-old, his channel has expanded more than he thought ever possible. What was once a channel about that days rant has turned into a channel featuring celebrities such as Darren Criss, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and even first lady herself, Michelle Obama! Tyler's channel sports various types of videos, such as collaborations with other Youtubers, opening fan mail, answering fan questions and Day In The Life videos. Tyler is also a huge supporter and contributor towards The Trevor Project, where he's helped raise over $500,000 towards the amazing organization through his Youtube channel!
4. Superfruit
You may know this duo from award-winning acapella group, Pentatonix. Mitch Grassi (left) and Scott Hoying (right) started their channel in 2013, explaining that they've been best friends since they were 10-years-old and they've been inseparable ever since, especially when they formed Pentatonix in high school. Their channel has a lot of singing videos such as "Hip Hop Goes Broadway" as well as "Tag videos" like "The Boyfriend Tag" that are popular amongst other YouTubers as well.
5. The Shaytards
The Shaytards are an ever-growing mormon family of seven who post daily "vlogs" or video blogs as they're called about their daily lives. The Shaytards channel started seven years ago when it was just Shay Carl and his wife Colette and the three older kids Gavin, Avia and Emmi. The videos started as just few minute clips of the family's day as Shay started his weight loss journey, which was the inspiration for his Youtube channel. Much like CTFxC, the Shaytards film their everyday lives, catching sad moments and happy moments, even breathtaking moments as their channel features birthing videos of their last two children, Brock and Daxton being born. The family is also known for the creation of Makers Studios, which created family-friendly content such as "The Mom's View". Shay Carl later sold his company to The Walt Disney Company for $500 million dollars in 2014. The Shaytards channel is an inspiring channel and shows their audience that with family, hard work and determination can come some wonderful things.
6. Vlogbrothers
Hank and John Green started their YouTube channel eight years ago when the brothers decided they wanted to cut out any media means communication and try communicating through only video blogs (they weren't called Vlogs back then) for one year. They called this journey Brotherhood 2.0 where the brothers would go back and forth each day sending a video blog to each other. The brothers agreed that if one of them were to miss a day that they would have to endure a punishment of the others choosing and you could imagine that the channel displays a few of those punishments. Vlogbrothers has turned into a phenomenon since Brotherhood 2.0, the brothers creating DFTBA (Don't Forget To Be Awesome) which is a company the brothers co-own to sell their own merchandise on, as well as many other YouTubers such as CTFxC and Rhett and Link sell their merchandise on as well. The brothers have also created VidCon, which is a convention for YouTubers to go and interact with their fans, as well as give panels about creating content on YouTube.
7. Chuggaconroy
For the gamers of the Internet, Chuggaconroy is the channel for you. Actually named Emile, Chuggaconroy is strictly a gaming channel that feature "Let's Play" videos which are basically playlists of videos of an entire run-through of a video game, unlocking every achievement or beating every level, depending on the video game.
