It’s the most wonderful time of the year for college students. Spring Break is the most anticipated time of the year. People start planning their wild trips in the early months of fall semester. College students are known for Spring Break, but not everybody takes on the stereotypical spring break experience. Not planning a wild trip down to Florida? You’re not alone. There are plenty of people who take advantage of the week off to just chill.
1. Netflix and Chill
OK, so maybe not the “chill” we’re used to — but actually chilling. Take the week to binge watch your favorite Netflix series or start a new one. I hear "Fuller House" is great! But what sounds better than your bed, Netflix and a week without any responsibilities.
2. Road Trip
Maybe not the 14-hour drive to the beach, but the heading out to one of your favorite places for a long weekend or to visit some family. Nothing beats some good music, a sunny day and the open road, especially when it’s just a couple hour drive.
3. Homework
As lame as it sounds, spring break is a great time to get ahead on the later part of the semester’s homework. One week you do not have to worry about going to class, turning in assignments, and receiving new assignments. It is so easy to get ahead when all you have is time. Take advantage to help yourself through the rest of the semester. You will be thanking yourself once you get back and realize there is not that much time left.
4. Home cooking
My personal favorite part of spending Spring Break at home is the break from school food. I love coming home on the weekends and having a home cooked meal. For one week straight, you can enjoy your home cooked favorites. My parents always ask what I have missed the most, and they make sure I get it sometime during the week. By the end of the week, you may be heading back to campus a couple pounds heavier, but it will be so worth it.
5. Play Catch-Up
With Spring Break right around the corner, we all fall ill with spring fever and start slacking off in school. With a week off from school, there is no better time to do the work you’ve put off doing. Whether it is finally doing laundry or catching up on the reading you’re behind on.
6. Shopping Spree
The most logical way to spend the money you’re saving on not going on a spring break trip is to go shopping! Everybody needs to update their summer wardrobe. There is no better time to check out the new summer fashions. While you’re home maybe you could get your parents to go with you and possibly help fund your spending spree.
7. Make some money
We’re all college students balling on a budget, so why not take the week to earn some extra cash. Plenty of people are going out of town and need someone to cover their babysitting jobs or you may be able to pick up more hours with your own job. There is no such thing as too much money for us college students.
Whether you decide to spend your Spring Break on the beach or your bed, it will be great to get away from school for the week.
