Sometimes it feels like the world is full of negativity. Naturally, that cynicism is often reflected in meme culture. Think about it - memes are so frequently used to put others down or to express negative feelings towards one's self:

However, there is hope for meme positivity! In recent meme history, there seems to be a trend of twisting around memes to spread uplifting messages - and some brand new positive memes have cropped up, too. Here are some examples to lift your spirits.

1. Positive Pepe

Pepe is usually used to express sadness, disappointment, or anger, but not this Pepe! How refreshing to see him with something to smile about. People have been cranking out plenty of positive Pepes lately. Here's another example:

A wonderful sentiment!

2. Carly Rae Jepsen Being The Queen of Things

Carly Rae Jepsen's fans are a supportive bunch. By calling her the queen of literally anything she does, they've started their own positive meme! But this meme doesn't have to apply only to Carly. Start calling your friends the queens of whatever they do!

3. This Is Fine

For those unfamiliar with the original meme, the dog is usually saying "this is fine," despite his fiery surroundings. However, someone has tweaked this meme to shift its focus from hopelessness to caring about others! Not a bad message.

4. Tuesday Dog

The Tuesday dog has been around for a while, and I think it's safe to say that it has reached meme status. Its beauty is in its simplicity. Tuesdays can be hard, but this dog is here to reassure you. Tuesday again? No problem. You can do it. I recommend looking at this meme every Tuesday.

5. Uplifting Acronyms

Several posts like this have been circulating lately. The title misleads us - it's usually something with somewhat vulgar implications - but surprise! It's an acronym full of positive thoughts. Here is another example of this type of post.

6. Loving Your GF Culture

One of the most noticeable trends in positive memery has been the recent cropping-up of what has been deemed "loving your gf culture." The meme featured above originally features Squidward Tentacles with a button saying "I really don't want to be here right now," but no amount of negativity is too much for the positive force of "loving your gf" memes. For more examples, here is a master post of similar memes. Of course, these memes can be applied to significant others of any gender.

7. Talk To Me or My Daughter

To round off the list, here we have a pleasant bastardization of the recent "don't talk to me or my son ever again" meme. Instead of being prickly and closed off, these dogs are happy and welcoming! The perfect example of a negative meme turned positive.

There are plenty more positive memes out there. I recommend taking a look at the "Wholesome Memes" tumblr page for more inspiration. Take these memes and go on to spread good vibes!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
