As a 20-year-old, I am teeter-tottering childhood and adulthood. I can't make the excuse, "I am still just a kid," every time I now screw up, but I still have yet to find a way to pay my water bill on time like a true adult (sorry, mom and dad for that). With time I am beginning to age and becoming more and more of what they call an "adult." Even though I have had many child moments in the past years, one thing I have seemed to always possess is the "mom gene." Not only have I always loved children even since I was a child, but I have always taken on the mom responsibility demeanor among many situations.
Are you the "Mom" friend, too? If you catch yourself saying these lines, you probably are.
1. You should probably take a jacket when you go.
Not that you like get sick if you don't wear a jacket, but I bet your chances are much higher if you don't.
2. Good luck on your test today!
I still have sticky notes around all my roommates' doors when I know they have important tests coming up.
3. How was school today?
"Good," is not a good enough answer for me. I genuinely want to know how your day was, how your classes were, and what's on your mind that I can help with.
4. Is everything alright?
I can tell pretty quickly when my close friends aren't having the best day. Sorry friends, you are not as good of hiding it as you think you are. I sincerely want to know what is going on in their lives and how I can make their day better in any way I can.
5. I'm going to the store, do you need anything?
Not only is grocery shopping fun, but I do it way more often than I probably should. I like to make sure everyone has everything that they need.
6. Drive safely and let me know when you get there.
"Text me when you get there." "Call me when you're home." "Let me know when you get there safely." I will probably freak out if I don't get a message knowing someone got somewhere if I have told them to let me know.
7. Call me if you need anything, honey.
I am always just a phone call away if my friends or family need anything from me, no matter the time of day.
