7 Things You Feel After UD's 7-Week Break

The break from hell and the feelings that come when it's over.

7 Things You Feel After UD's 7-Week Break

Winter break in college is probably one of the worst things ever, especially if you go to the University of Delaware. Seven weeks of not being around your friends from school... just absolutely horrible. But when you finally come back, everything is great and those seven weeks are immediately forgotten about. So here are some things that everyone feels when coming back from UD's infamous winter break.

1. The stress of unpacking.

You brought home so much stuff for break, because it's like a million years long, and now you have to bring it all back and reorganize it. Combine that with being in a cube sized dorm with your family, your roommate, and their family, along with everyone else on the floor doing the same thing, and theres definitely a lot of stress. It's February, but you're still probably breaking a sweat as you're moving back in.

2. The excitement of seeing your friends once your families have left.

You may not be fully unpacked or organized, but the second your family exits the building you can't wait to run down the hall (or down the stairs or the sidewalk) to be reunited with your best friends. It's like a military homecoming video.

3. The overwhelming sense of freedom.

You've just been home under your parent's rules for 7 weeks. Now you're back, and you can do whatever you want. You're super excited to just be free, and hang out with people whenever you like.

4. That short but definitely sad feeling of missing home.

You're doing the finishing touches of unpacking, and you're alone, and you think about home, and maybe for just a brief second you get a little sad. You miss your bed, your pets, maybe even your family.. but just a little (love you fam!). But you quickly get over that because of..

5. The immense feeling in your body that you must go out.

It doesn't matter if it's a Sunday, Monday, whatever day it is.. everything in your body is telling you it's time to go out. And of course, you do just that.

6. The freak out you have while making your going out plans.

You forgot how much planning goes into going to a party. You have to get addresses, pick which one(s) you're going to, what order you're going to them in, who you're going with, who's room you're starting in.. and not to mention the outfit.

7. The bliss of being in your happy place.

UD is one of, if not my top, favorite places to be. You're just so genuinely happy to be back at the best school ever, with some amazing people, having a great time. Most of all, you're thankful that 7 weeks of hell are over!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
