Being home for over a week now has made me realize how lucky I am to be home! Yes, I miss college because home is so boring, but there is just something about being home that makes everything in the world feel right again. I have also realized there are numerous things I take for granted while I'm home that will make me really appreciate it when I go back to school at the end of the summer:
1. Walking around barefoot.
I live in a house at school and this house is by no means is the cleanest place in the world. I am constantly wearing shoes or sandals around my house at school. Here, my home is just so clean there is no need to wear shoes around my house which is a blessing in disguise.
2. Showering with no shoes on.
These two points go hand-in-hand with each other. But being able to shower without sandals on is amazing and you really can't appreciate it until you live in a house where you really need shower shoes or you don't know what you'll get on your feet.
3. A full pantry.
Nothing is better than to wake up on a Tuesday morning, go to your kitchen, and see a pantry full of all your favorite food. You didn't get the food, but you know someone got the food and its all for you (and your family but whatever).
4. Home cooked meals
Cooking for yourself away at school or eating the school-made food can definitely get old fast. Coming home to nice home cooked meals are blessings to the people who get tired of the food not made the way you like it.
5. Everything you need is at your finger tips
Need a new toothbrush, it's there. Need soap, it's there. Need more underwear, it's there! anything you could ever need that you can't normally obtain easily at school is right there waiting for you as if it were there for your uses only.
6. A made bed and done laundry
To me this is the mot important point becasue i hate doing my own laundry. I dont have an issue actually doing the laundry but for the love of God i cant fold my clothing. But at home my clothes are done and folded for me juts like how my bed is made and sheets changed for me one a week.
7. Your Parents
The following points are made possible by two figures and two figures alone: your parents. They put the roof over your head, the food in your mouth, and they are the reason you are able to go away from home, for years, to broaden your horizons and study to exceed in life.
Enjoy your time home over the summer months. You'll be back at school in no time so don't take the little things for-granted.
