We're all excited that finals are over and that we can finally go home for the summer. We can stop complaining about how we miss home cooking, our friends from home and our families. There's nothing like waking up and not having to rush to class or go to the dining hall to get decently cooked breakfast. But when you get home, you start to realize that you actually miss college. Here are some things you'll miss when you're home for the summer.
1. The friends you made at college.
College is a time where you make mistakes that teach you a life lesson. These are the people that you did stupid things with at 3 A.M. in your dorm room on a Saturday night. Yeah you have friends back at home that you can hang out with, but these friends basically lived in your room sometimes, you could see them early in the morning up until late at night.
2. Your roommate.
Even if you were best friends, sometimes it would get annoying that you would wake up to them every morning and fall asleep with them. If you ever got into a fight, there's no where to go. But in the end, you'll remember the times you needed someone at 1 A.M. to talk to, and they just happened to be across the room.
3. The Dining Hall.
The food may not have always been the best, and you may have found yourself getting tired of the same thing over and over again. But when your parent makes dinner and it's something you don't want, you just have to suck it up and eat it. But the dining hall has options, and pizza was always one of those options.
4. The School Events.
Sometimes the school event were pretty lame and you would find yourself bored and end up going back to your dorm early for the night. But on the summer nights when your friends are busy, your siblings are busy and even your parents are too busy, you'll miss these school events. They're better than sitting in your room all by yourself, at least you had the option to stay in.
5. The Dorm Rooms.
You may not have had the biggest dorm room. It may not have looked like the ones they had on Zoey 101 at all. But having the privacy and a place to go to was nice. Your room at home is nice and you can still have the privacy. Unless you moved out of the home you grew up in, that room is still considered "your parents room" to them. Your college dorm room is yours.
6. The Distance from Home.
The whole year you were away at college, you realized you missed your family and friends so much. The days you got to go home you cherished because you knew that you wouldn't see them again in a long time. But now that you're home, you just want them out of your hair and to give you some space.
7. Your Neighbors.
You may have hated your neighbors because they were loud and obnoxious all throughout the night. You may have spent long nights praying that they would quiet down so you could get some sleep for your test at 8 A.M. But now that they're not there, it's eerily silent. Sometimes if you were having a bad day, they would comfort you or even try to get you and go out.
8. Not Having A Car on Campus.
You probably HATED not having your car on campus. You felt stranded at school and the only way you could get around was by walking or if you knew someone with a car. Now that you're home and can drive wherever you want, you now can drive yourself around...and your friends and your parents and your siblings. You basically turn into a taxi service that doesn't get payed.
9. Your Hall.
Your hall may not have been the best hall to live in for a full year. Maybe it was too loud or too far away from all your classes. You were excited to come back home and not have to live with random people. But now that you're home, the people around you are your family and we all know how that could get annoying.
10. Your College.
The amount of times you've probably said "I hate this school" is too many to count on both hands. You couldn't wait to come home and just be away from all the stress and the pressures of school. But soon you'll realize that you miss it more than you thought you would.
