  1. Cry For 76 Different Reasons At The Same Time- One of the best things about having a true best friend is that they never judge you, no matter what. Whether you’re happy, sad, stressed, or all of the above, you can feel free to let it all out when you’re in the presence of the person you know will let you have it out and not laugh at you for it the next day. This past summer, I had an emotional night: a show I had directed opened, I was moving into college in about two weeks, and I had just been given an opportunity that I was absolutely thrilled about. I drove my best friend home and CRIED. I was so overwhelmed by all the good and exciting yet scary and unpredictable things that were happening that I didn’t know what else to do. Shout out to my best friend for sitting in the car with me and listening to me while I sobbed. What a homie.
  2. Have A Second Family- When you’ve known someone for a really long time, chances are you’re going to get to know their family. Whether you develop a relationship with a friend’s mom or start to feel like their little brother is your little brother, it’s always nice to know that when you’re with them, you’re family. One of my best friends from elementary school has welcomed me into her family with open arms, and I am so grateful that I have the relationships within her family that I do. Not having living grandparents of my own, going to brunch with her grandfather and putting a smile on his face is something that I think is really special. Getting to hold her adorable baby cousin is definitely a plus as well.
  3. Reminisce- One of my favorite things about the people I currently call my best friends is that we can reminisce with each other. There are so many hilarious things that have happened to us that when brought up to anyone else are not funny at all. But, it’s nice to have people to laugh with you at the things nobody else will, and relive the memories that you’ve made together.
  4. Get The Advice You Need To Hear- Your best friends are the people who tell you what you need to hear, even if it’s what not what you want to hear. If one of my best friends doesn’t seem like themselves, or is about to make an irrational decision, I always confront them about it, and I know they would do the same for me. Best friends make you realize that honest people are good to have around, so you can appreciate them when they come into your life.
  5. Have Conversations Consisting Only Of Memes and GIFs- Sometimes the only way to get your point across is by sending the GIF of Michael Scott screaming “NOOOOOOOO”, and it’s really nice to have friends who 1) get it and 2) know exactly what GIF is the perfect response.
  6. Have Them Proofread Everything You Write- You can bet that behind every long text, is a group of at least three best friends who edited, analyzed, and revised each sentence. For my own sanity, I always have to make sure that every risky text I send has the approval of my best friends.
  7. Feel Like You’re Kind Of Funny And Nice To Be Around- You know how people will say that your family has to like you because they’re your family? Well, your friends picked you!! They don’t have to hang out with you, exchange memes with you, or proofread your risky texts, but they do. They invite you to their house even though you are weird and cry for 76 different reasons at the same time. Friends are cool.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
