There is no better time to plan outings with your friends than summer. No one has homework or extracurricular activities, so there is plenty of time after camp or work to fill with new experiences and activities you've always wanted to try together. My friend group certainly takes advantage of the long summer hours and we have many great memories because of it. Here's an assortment of our favorite summer activities that are accessible to anyone!
1. Try a new restaurant.
Bonus points if it's brunch. Every friend group should go out for brunch at least once.
2. Go to a carnival!
State fairs always open in the summer and are usually affordable. Whether your friends are thrill seekers or funnel cake fanatics, there is something for everyone, including ferris wheel photo ops.
3. Get crafty
Summer is a great time to get crafty, and friendship bracelets weren't your favorite camp activity for nothing. Having small projects during vacation time can be rewarding, especially without school to distract your creative process. Coloring books and friendship bracelet-making can be highly addictive, especially on a day when it's too hot to go outside.
4. Get into a TV show together
Like really into one. Having a set time one hour a week gets my friends pumped to all be together and extra excited for the next episode of our show. Watching a dramatic reality show is ideal so that you can follow the characters in real life and gossip about each plot twist together.
5. Have a party!
Bonus points if it's a birthday party. Planning small "parties" for your group can be super fun, especially when it's to surprise one of your close buds or theme it around their wishes. Making fun drinks, baking, and making and buying party supplies are half the fun. Seeing everyone's excitement is the rest.
6. Do a sports thing.
Ambitious friends, try hiking. Moderate friends, pick up baseball or spike ball. Low key friends, bowling.
7. Do everything!
You have two and a half months to do whatever you want together! Enjoy this rare moment between childhood and independence, when you begin to get a taste of adulthood but none of the repercussions, by trying as much as you can. The world is your oyster.
