Why not take a road trip to St. Louis one weekend this summer? There's so many different things to do in St. Louis the city, but also in the St. Louis area. I have only listed seven, but know there are tons more to do than just these. All seven of these are affordable even for the traditional college student!

1. Gateway Arch.

That's what St. Louis is known for: having the Arch. Why not go up to the top of it and look out the windows like every tourist? Honestly, you can't miss it, it's the first thing you see when you pull into the city.

2. City Museum.

Not far from the Arch, the City Museum is for all ages. I might be 20-years-old, but I love to go there and slide down all the slides and run around on the roof top. So many different things you can do in and outside of this building.

3. St. Louis Zoo.

Not only is it a zoo, so you get to see a bunch of animals, it's free. And who doesn't like free stuff? You can bring your own lunch, and spend the whole day in the zoo!

4. Raging Rivers.

Even though its on the Illinois side of the river, Raging Rivers is an awesome water park. There's no roller coasters, it's just straight water rides. From the toilet bowl to the wave pool, they got it all.

5. Cahokia Mounds.

While you're on the Illinois side, also check out these mounds that were made thousands of years ago. If you want to get your steps in for the day, make sure to walk up and down every mound. It's really cool to learn about the history of the mounds and the area some people live on today.

6. The Muny or Fox Theater.

Definitely go see a play at either one of these places! They have some of the best performances in the area, and always have good plays going on all through out the year.

7. Six Flags St. Louis.

Six Flags is technically in Eureka, but it is considered in St. Louis. It's only 30 minutes outside of the city. It is currently the coaster capital of Missouri with nine coasters in the park, and it also has many other smaller rides and family rides available. Not only is it an amusement park, but you also get a free water park with six water slides, wave pool, and lazy river.

As some of these are more expensive than others, but they are totally worth each dollar spent. Even if you live in the area you should check one or two of these out on your day off -- I know I will be. There is way more to do in St. Louis, but these are some of my personal favorites. Hope y'all have fun this summer!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
