Being organized is something that is always encouraged while you are growing up. You should always be good at keeping track of appointments and due dates, but for some people, it goes a little beyond that. I am one of those people, and my organizational habits seem excessive to some. However, when I am indulging in my OCD tendencies, many people come up to me and say that they do similar things. Sadly, the whole world is not as organized as some of us, and that can incredible frustrating at times. These are a couple things things that all overly organized people deal will in their everyday lives.
1. My notebook is for me to write in, not you.
People will always ask me if they can draw something in my notebook or steal a piece of paper. I am extremely particular about my stationary and all of my notebooks are organized in a very specific way. When someone write in my notebook, especially if I don’t know what they are going to write, it drives me absolutely crazy.
2. My Planner is my bible.
I am sure that I would be completely lost if anything happened to my planner. Every part of my day is spelled out in it in a color-coded fashion that pleases my soul to no end. Now that my life consists of more that just homework and sleepovers with my friends, it is extremely important that everything in spelled out in a way I understand and is visually pleasing to look at every day.
3. Pens are more then pen
As I said, I color-code most everything in my planner, and in other notebooks as well, which means that I need my pens on me at all times. I am very specific about the types of pens I use and the colors cannot vary or else it throws off my whole system. This also means that I have to carry around pens that I do not care about for regular usage because loosing one of my special pens would cause a lot of franticness.
4. Sticky Notes are a gift from God
Whoever invented Sticky Notes was looking out for the super organized. The different colors work perfectly with my color-coding system and the different sizes mean that there is always one perfect for the job I need done. If my roommates would let me, I would cover my room in sticky notes to remind me of all the things that I need to do. There are unlimited uses for a sticky-note, and my organized mind is going to find each and every one
5. My laptop is filled like an office building
Free-floating documents in my laptop drive me absolutely crazy. I have so many folders in my finder and when you open most of them, you just find more folders. There are so many important documents in my laptop, from schoolwork to person essays and if they were all over my desktop in no order, I would be completely lost. When I turn on my computer and see everything put in it’s place and organized, I feel so at ease.
6. Everything has a place and that place has a purpose.
When I organize my room, I am very careful to put things where I believe they belong and that means that is where they should stay. There is nothing that grinds my gears more than when someone comes into my room and moves something around. I am not a messy person and I do not like my room to look like a mess. Having one thing out of place might not seem like the room is not a mess, but to me, my whole space is out of order.
7. There is no order is chaos.
A lot of people are very “go with the flow” and want to figure things out as they happen, but I am certainly not one of those people. Plans are everything to me and knowing where the road is going to take me gives me so much peace. I am very aware that some things are unplanned for, but my organized mind is perfectly happy not thinking about that. There is so much joy in having everything be the way you want it to be, and being organized is a vital way to make sure that can happen.
