Senior year starts at Morristown in 4 days, and I'm not really sure if I'm ready to accept that. While I'm struggling because summer is ending, I'm also at loss because this is my final year in high school. I don't know what to think, and at the same time there are so many thoughts running through my head. In no particular order, here they are.
This is the last time I'm going to see some people I've seen for 3 years.
I've seen so many people every single day since freshman year of high school, and now we're about to be flung hundreds of miles apart with little knowledge on when our next rendezvous will be. Who knows who we'll be or where we'll be when we meet next.
I need record everything somehow.
I've seen enough senior year recap videos on YouTube, and I think that's something I want to do. Capturing some of the moments will give me something to look back on a few weeks, months, years, or decades after graduation.
It's the end and the beginning.
While high school may be ending, it's the beginning of so much more. Everything that has happened in high school has been an amazing experience, but it is only a small chunk of everything that life has to offer.
So many "lasts" to keep track of.
The last time I walk into school for the first time. The last time receiving a new schedule. The last time playing soccer in a Morristown uniform. The last time I'll walk the halls. It's emotional stuff, but in the end I'm just glad that I got to experience them.
Not out of the woods yet.
The cycle from freshman to senior starts all over again next fall, just when you reach the top. While getting out of high school is a huge achievement, it's only the beginning of a long road of hard work.
It's going to be gone in a second.
I know that this year is going to fly by. I know at one second I'll be walking in on the first day, and the next I'll be dressed in a funny looking hat and gown. It's a good reminder to cherish every little moment before it's all in the past.
