Some people are good at science, some are good at writing. Some people like ice cream while like frozen yogurt. Some people are immaculately clean, others are repulsively messy. For those of us who are repulsively messy, I am here to say, We have had enough.
Here are seven things messy people are tired of hearing.
1. "Clean up this mess."
No. I hate cleaning. This "mess" you speak of is my private utopia of nonsense and I like it just the way it is, thank you.
2. "How do you find anything in this pigsty?"
Well, you see, I am a complex human being. I have a very intricate way of organizing things that only I understand. You just wouldn't get it.
3. "Your purse is so heavy; are there bricks in here?"
If you consider a spare pair of socks, bandaids, my wallet, a hair brush, nail clippers, an apple, three pairs of sunglasses, five lip balms, roll-on perfume, a phone charger and a water bottle a "brick"... then yes. Messy people have learned to carry anything they could ever need in their bags; be nice to them and maybe they will share.
4. "Did a bomb go off in here?"
No, I just couldn't find anything to wear.
5. "Maybe if you cleaned up you could find something to wear."
If I can't find something to wear with every article of clothing I own laid out on my floor, how would I be able to find something in my drawer?
6. "How do you know what is clean and what is dirty?"
Simple: everything that smells good is definitely clean, everything that smells OK once it is sprayed with perfume is moderately clean and everything that has already been sprayed with perfume and still smells dirty, is dirty.
7. "You have too much stuff."
This may be true, but that doesn't mean you have to say it.
For all the neat freaks out there: us messy folks will never be like you. We will never have a place for everything or an urge to clean our rooms, just like you would never leave the house without folding your freshly-dried clothes. Just the way it is.
