Commonly known for her eye-catching outfits, nudity, short hair, crazy antics and country dad, Miley Cyrus isn’t given much credit for the good she does. While she may have left behind her "Hannah Montana" life and wig she still holds the same values close to her heart. Parents, teenagers and even young children are disappointed with who she has become today. While she may not always dress appropriately, censor what she says or make the right decisions, she is growing up and finding herself and doesn’t care who knows it. She is acting like many of the young 20-somethings in America today, difference is she's in the spotlight. She may not be perfect, but nobody is. It is time we put aside her Miley Stewart – girl next store persona and accept who she is today.
1. She’s an amazing singer.
This statement is undeniable. While many people believe she can’t hit the notes or she doesn’t know how to sing, that is not the case at all. She has a mature and soulful voice. Listen to any of her live performances. She even admits that most of them are not perfect because she is an actual live singer. She has a beautiful range and is without a doubt talented. Still don’t believe me? Listen to any of her “Backyard Sessions” and I can almost guarantee you your mind will be changed.
2. She’s confident.
As we all know, Miley has become extremely confident with her body and herself. Whether she is walking around as an American flag, a rainbow, or has nothing on but a few pieces of string, she rocks it. She doesn’t care what anybody thinks or says about her. Miley shows us that’s who she is and if you don’t like it, then too bad. Miley is also able to laugh at things and make fun of herself. She doesn’t take life too seriously and lives in the moment. Miley expresses that you can be whoever or whatever you want to be. You don’t have to be afraid to be yourself. I think that’s one of the best things she’s taught people with her new looks and attitude.
3. She’s a philanthropist.
People don’t give her enough credit for the good she does and only harp on the bad. Many don’t even know the philanthropy and charity work she has been involved in for years. In 2015, Miley founded and launched the Happy Hippie Foundation. A nonprofit organization whose goal is to rally young people to fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBT youth, and other vulnerable populations. She wants young people to have a happy and positive life. She continues to help people all over the world and is proving that she can and will change the world. Miley gives a voice to people who may not have one or are too scared to express it. Miley has been working with various charities and efforts since the start of her career.
4. She’s selfless.
Miley cares about her fans. Always thanking them and praising them for continuing to support her. She even released her last album, "Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz" for free. She didn’t care about making money off of it. She wanted her fans to enjoy her music. She believes everybody should have equal rights and opportunities and wants everyone to embrace peace and love.
5. She’s a businesswoman.
Whether you want to admit it or not, she knows how to make money. From selling merchandise to starting her foundation, while managing to be on magazine cover after cover, she knows what’s going to make her popular. She knows what’s going to get her talked about, good or bad. Through being a businesswoman, she shows that fame isn’t everything and is strategic with all things she puts her name on.
6. She’s independent.
She doesn’t care what anybody thinks of her. She does her own thing and rocks it. Miley shows her fans that she doesn’t need someone else. She can be successful on her own and doesn’t need a partner to walk with her every step of the way. Yes, we are now rooting for Miley and Liam again, but before that she was focused on her career and didn’t need anyone to interfere with that. Miley also doesn’t follow with what’s going on in the media world. She doesn’t follow the “cool” trends and starts her own instead.
7. She’s passionate.
Not just within music but with everything she does. From art to television to music and philanthropy, Miley believes whole-heartedly in what she does. She doesn’t stop until she gets what she wants. Miley puts everything she has into any project she takes on. She inspires and advocates for people to love themselves and be passionate in whatever they do, no matter what it is. She also embraces female empowerment. She believes without women there’s no life and all genders should be equal. Miley continues to be passionate about this.
While Miley may not be everyone’s “cup-of-tea”, she deserves for the public to see the good in her. She may not always be perfect but she is a good role model. She teaches people to believe in themselves and to not be afraid to show who they really are. Miley should start getting the credit she deserves.
