7 Things Best Friends Know to be True

All genuine friendships share the same things.

1. You hold each other to a certain standard.

You expect the same things out of each other. That means being a good friend, how you decide to treat others, and being loyal. Double standards do not exist in your friendship, it is an all-or-nothing kind of deal.

2. You are bluntly honest with each other.

If one of you is being unbelievably naive or immature, you can bet your biscuit your best friend is going to call you out on it. A best friend is not going to let you chase down something that will inevitably hurt you down the road. Plus if there is something in your teeth you can trust they won't let you walk around talking to people like that.

3. You support each other, no matter what.

It does not matter what you did, your best friend will not only love you but they will help you figure out a remedy. Perhaps you're going to go do something dumb-- your best friend is by your side ready to go down with you. Who knows, they may even end up in the shoe with you.

4. They are your favorite source of entertainment

From their obnoxious singing, to their daily shift driving the struggle bus-- there is no one who you enjoy spending time with more. When you're together you laugh until you cry and then you laugh even more because you're crying. It's a truly vicious cycle.

5. They're your go-to person

Need someone to get fast food with you at 1a.m.? No one is more down. While they may complain, they will always go do your errands with you as you will with them. As long as you're together, you couldn't be happier.

6. Time/ Distance apart doesn't mean jack

So you haven't seen each other since who knows when, it has zero affect on your friendship. Oceans apart or a mile away, you will always pick up right where you left off.

7. There is nothing you wouldn't do for each other

Seriously you two have no limits. Dealing with your (mildly insane) family? Check. Take care of you when you don't feel so hot? Check. Go to jail with you? Hopefully not, but still, check!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
