7 Struggles You May Face while Decorating This Holiday Season

The holiday season is one of the best times of the year. Presents, eggnog, being with family; it's all fun and games. But no one can deny how serious decorating can be. While seasonal decorating can be a fun experience, it is oftentimes a stressful one. There are several things that can make this holiday's decorating a nightmare. Below is just a short list of struggles you may face while decorating this season!

1). Figuring out a theme.

For most people, there is always a theme. Sometimes, it's a certain color scheme, a pattern of carefully placed items or some sort of message being conveyed. Reds and greens, angels, Santas, lights, and snowflakes abound the store aisles for what seems like miles. Picking out a theme is certainly a challenge, especially when there are millions of ways to do something!

2). Spending too much money...

Trying not to spend a fortune is difficult, too. An eggnog-fueled trip to Walmart could lead to paying hundreds of dollars on the decorations alone. It takes a lot of will to not buy every cute thing you see on the shelves. It is even harder when you are really determined to have the most festive house. Maybe it is best to make a budget for yourself before you head out shopping!

3). Putting out breakables!

Glass ornaments and decorations can really complete the aesthetic you are looking for. But you might find yourself stressed over the idea of breaking them. It can be really tough if you have kids and pets, or if you are known for being clumsy. The struggle to keep those precious decorations from harms way all through December can be hectic. Hopefully you keep your precious decor in high places.

4). Having too much stuff.

Having too many decorations in general just leads to clutter. It is hard to find that perfect balance between too much and too little. Sometimes, you might just wonder how necessary all of you decorations really are. Do you really need all of those inflatable light up snowmen? Or pounds and pounds of tinsel? Sometimes, you just have to realize less can actually be more.

5). Wanting people to notice your hard work.

Yet, you worry about how many people are really going to notice your hard work. Decorating can be really competitive in a neighborhood, as well as a bore if you live in the middle of nowhere. Even if your decorating does not get noticed by everyone, as long as you enjoy it, that is what counts. So do what suits you best.

6). Christmas lights!!!

This list would not be complete without mentioning the infamous (and yet best) decoration: Christmas lights. Sure, they are pretty, and sure they come in all shapes, sizes and colors. But they are a nightmare to work with! Untangling them, hanging them, and making sure they stay up; it is too much of a hassle. I mean, if you really want to put up lights, then do it. If you realize that it may be more trouble then it's worth, then that's cool, too. It is your personal preference. But can someone please invent lights that won't tangle up after the first use, and with bulbs that last, too!

7). Having to take it all down...

Then, after all the hard work of decorating for weeks on end, you have to take everything down as soon as New Year's rolls around. It is kind of bittersweet, actually. On one hand, you may feel a sigh of relief as you get rid of all of the opulent decor that has become an eyesore or you are actually saddened by the fact that the magic of the holidays is gone for another year. Either way, you are probably going to feel upset when you realize that all of your hard work was only meant to last a few weeks. Well, hopefully you had fun while it lasted!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
