7 Strange Ways to Generate Energy

1. Food

Biogas can be obtained from any organic matter. It is mostly methane which is released when the food starts to break down. This could be a great solution to the huge food waste problem that is facing our world.

2. Tornadoes

No... not real tornados. Artificial tornadoes are being created using the hot air generated in power stations as a way to drive turbines.

3. Cars

We usually think of cars as being a major source in energy consumption. Around the world, metal plates are being installed under roads. The weight of cars driving over the plates generates electricity.

4. Cows

Or any farm animal for that matter. These animals release an extremely large amount of methane gas which is a known contributor to global warming. The animal waste has the potential to become a major energy source if we can find a way to efficiently harness it.

5. Rain

There are multiple ways in which rainfall can be converted into energy. The first is using sensors to generate electricity from the impact. The second would be using runoff water to power turbines.

6. Bugs and Bacteria

These little guys will prove to be vital in finding new ways to generate biodiesel. Currently, biodiesel requires a lot of land and energy to produce. Bugs and bacteria transform the oil into fuel through simple biological processes.

7. Humans

There are a 1000 ways in which humans could generate energy. Just think of how much we expend every day. From breathing to walking, it will just take a little innovation for humans to become major sources of energy.
