7 Signs Your Grand Little Is Actually Your Sister’s Grand Uncle
Total Sorority Move

We’ve all been there. You’re glancing at your new family, wondering how you never knew you were genetically linked to all these girls you met five minutes ago. In a speed that could only be trumped by ancestry.com, you find yourself with a handful of new relatives from all over the country! I’m talking, of course, about your sisters in your sorority.

You’re looking at your little, a genetic link similar to that of Dr. Evil to Mini-Me in Austin Powers, and you start to wonder if your grand little is even your grand little! The plethora of family members overwhelm you as you start to forget who’s your little and who’s your sister uncle. So, let us delve into the psyche of the Starbucks-filled 20-year-old as we recount these all-too-overwhelming feelings that only a fully legitimate family can induce in a sorority girl.

1. You love giving back to charity (by dancing).

We don't really know how the money appears, but we know it's for the kids. And we totally weren't drunk—I don't know what you're talking about. #FTK #GoLikeMyInsta

2. You always talk about how dysfunctional you all are!

Of all of the sororities, yours seems to have the craziest group of girls! When you pose for pictures, there’s always someone doing something so crazy, like making a weird face when everyone else is smiling! You are all so dysfunctional, OMG.

3. You make sure to wait until a prime Instagram time to post pictures of your food.

Real sisters don’t let other sisters get less than 50 likes on Instagram, even if the food they post is fattening. Don’t worry, it’s nothing that 17 hours on the elliptical can’t solve.

4. You all love dogs.

When you see a dog, all of your sisters sprint straight towards it. Tripping, pushing, shoving—anything’s fair game to be the first to pet the dog, in order to prove that you are the ultimate lover of dogs.

5. You get annoyed when people assume you like Pumpkin Spice Lattes (even though you do).

When the first day of winter approaches, and we all switch from beach Instas with ice coffees to cozy Instas with lattes, you bond with your sisters as you sit near a fireplace and almost forget who’s your little and who’s your sister mother uncle.

6. Your grand little loves sorority shirts almost as much as you love sorority shirts.

They’re big, they have your family letters on them, and did we mention that they’re BIG? There’s nothing that brings a group of girls together like bright shirts that are five sizes too big for them.

7. Your sisterhood can get through anything.

When you hear that one of your sisters is calling you a terrible person, you resolve the issue quickly by telling everyone else that she’s a terrible person. At the end of the day, you all are a family, and you know how to get through anything.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
