7 Secrets Of Morning People

To those night owls who can make it to 2 AM without so much as a yawn, here are a few reasons why you may consider switching from the dark side, to the sunny side. Morning people were a mystery to me until I under went schedule changes that opened my eyes to the marvel of an early riser. Mornings are incredible opportunities for us to discover ourselves and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

1. The morning is quiet.

Everything seems still except for the sound of birds fluttering through the trees as they sing out to each other. The sun drips in through your windows like molasses and everything looks beautiful and golden coated in the gentle light.

2. Breakfast is easily one of the best meals of the day.

You can have pretty much anything and dub it breakfast, although there's really nothing wrong with the classics: cinnamon rolls, eggs, bacon, muffins, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, oatmeal, granola, fruit up the wazoo or even crepes!

3. Productivity Boost!

If you’re a morning person, suddenly the day becomes so much longer and infinitely more productive. You wake up at 7 AM which creates this huge block of space where you can cross tasks off your to do list before the clock strikes noon.

4. Or, take the more relaxed road and use that time in the morning to do absolutely nothing.

Just soak in the beauty of the day. Take your time leisurely getting ready to hit the bricks, eat a giant breakfast, read another chapter of that book you can't put down, or play some music while you sip coffee. Simply, relax.

5. COFFEE.

You could argue that coffee can be consumed at all hours of the day. As a fellow caffeine addict, I can attest that I am rarely without a mug in my hand throughout the day. But there’s something about the morning that just makes coffee taste better. You have time to truly enjoy it. Plus, no one judges you for drinking 3 consecutive cups of coffee before the sun has fully risen.

6. Using the morning to work out is a great way to start your day.

Before you groan internally at the thought of exerting energy before 10 AM, keep in mind that yoga can be a fabulous way to energize your brain and body without working up a huge sweat. Some people enjoy a run or prefer to hit the gym but there's nothing wrong with just gentle stretching to keep you feeling loose all day long. Trust me on this one, a little movement in the morning will enlighten you.

7. To me, the mornings are beautiful because the day is full of potential.

I wake up and every morning, the day is anew and I think, I can do anything today! By the time the sun rolls down behind the hills in the evening, I am tired and find the hecticness of the day’s activities has put a strain on my mind. However, the mornings are a neutral promise that the rest of the day can be whatever you choose.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
