7 Reasons You Should Work At Camp Fellowship

Here are some signs you may very well be a camp counselor!

1. You will be unnaturally good at calming children down.

One of the toughest challenges for me as a camp counselor is when one of the lil' ones starts to get upset. It is a special gift that some people have to be able to comfort a home-sick child and allow them to enjoy their camp experience!

2. Food is life! Every meal is a gift from above (especially wing day.)

When you have to walk half a mile to get to breakfast it can be hard not to let your face not fall into your plate! It is especially humorous to watch your campers devour their meals! Few things will make you happier than seeing a kid shovel food into their faces for the sweet release that only food can provide.

3. Hearing campers not want to leave makes you cry!

Hearing your beloved campers cry when they have to leave is one of the most heart-breaking things in this world! Especially the ones that did not want to be there at the beginning of the week (they always have the most fun eventually.)

4. The day campers show up is the best day of the week!

Camp Fellowship (in Waterloo SC where I worked this summer) has camper arrival on Sunday and let me tell you, the staff was hyped up on Sunday! The first day has a Disney magic to it where the kids have no idea what is in store for them. It's where friendships start, and you can get the kids all excited for all the activities you have pre-planned!

5. Your co-workers always have your back.

There will be days where your campers seem to plot against you and make you want to quit. However, at the end of the day you do what you have to because every child there deserves a great experience even if you have to fake your smile. Shout out to every camp counselor that helped someone deal with a trouble group!

6. It's weird not to be weird at camp (and in your outside life!)

You are so used to being over the top and weird at camp that being in the outside world you get the judgmental stares from all your fellow humans out in public. Whether it is humming a camp fire song or doing a funny camp dance you can never seem to be "normal" again (and you love it!)

7. You will love your bosses!

If you want the coolest bosses in the world then come on down to Camp Fellowship! No matter what circumstance you find yourself in it can be very beneficial to have a supervisor who will help you in any situation. Camp Fellowship is where you will find that!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
