Summer is a great time of the year to take vacations, visit home, see your friends and to finally relax. Yet somehow, I always dread the next three months. Personally, I feel there's more things to dislike about summer than there are things to like about summer.
1. The Heat

2. The Humidity
Okay so maybe I can give the heat some slack because there is nothing worse than walking outside and having your skin feel sticky almost immediately. Also, did I mention how beautiful my hair looks when it starts frizzing? It is impossible for me to have cute hairstyles in the summer—mostly because I can't do anything besides a bun and a pony tail, but also because I can't have my hair touching my neck because it will get covered in sweat in five minutes.
3. Mosquitoes
I think we can all agree nothing is better than a summer night. Even "Grease" talks about them! The heat is a little less intense, the humidity is still awful, but at least you can sit down around a bonfire with your friends and relax, but wait your flesh is a magnet for these blood sucking monsters we call mosquitoes. I can literally, not figuratively, literally put an entire bottle of bug spray on and still wake up with ten bug bites. But that's not even the worst part! No, the worst part is that I lack the self control to stop viciously scratching at these summer battle wounds so my legs scar and those little devil bugs win. Every. Freaking. Year.
4. Bugs
Yes, I just talked mosquitoes, but let's talk bugs in general. I am terrified of wasps, ants annoy the crap out of me, flies are disgusting and yet somehow, they don't get the message that I need them all to stay one thousand feet away from me. Two years ago, I stepped on a bee at the beach and I still walked around all day. @theuniverse is this the thanks I get for exercising?! Flowers are beautiful, but you know what's around them? Bees! I don't mind those cute, basically harmless and endangered bumble bees. I mean those demons called yellow jackets that used to live in an abandoned car at my grandparents' house. They're ruthless and I've had enough of them. I demand a refund on the energy I've spent running from them.
5. Summer Clothing
It's no surprise that I'm going to mention my dislike of wearing shorts. Sure, they keep you cool and a lot of shorts are cute. You know what's not cute? Displaying my thousands of bug bites and the scars from bites of summer's past, leg sweat any and everywhere I sit and chafing. I shouldn't have to put deodorant on my thighs just so they don't stick together from the humidity and sweat, but at least dresses are a thing.
6. Lack of Motivation
In the summertime, I lack the motivation for living; I'm so lazy. It's not that I don't want to be doing fun and active things, it's just that I don't want to do those things in the 90 degree heat. Why did the generations before me have to destroy the ozone layer? At least the gym is air conditioned and pools are a thing.
7. Missing Your Friends
It's finally May and you get to see your friends from home, but suddenly the people you spent every minute with are no longer around you. These are people who watched you grow over the past year; they know all the people who you like and those you don't. It's like a part of you is missing and you counting down the days until you move in again. Maybe this year, you and your crush will end up dating or you finally get that single or you get on the Dean's List. For me, I'm counting down until I can wear jeans again without melting.
