Here comes the time where everything pink, red, and roses come out for people to stress to the max on the perfect date, perfect meal, perfect clothes, and possibly putting a finality to a relationship with something sparkly. While that all sounds great, or possibly more like a Hallmark movie (Admit it, you've seen at least one of those!) you can still have an amazing time while being single, and here are some reasons why being single may actually be a good thing!
1. You don't have to dress up all fancy.
Let's be honest, when it comes to Valentine's Day, we all get that notion that we have to dress up all fancy, in our best (probably tightest) clothing and practically shave every inch of hair off our body to look good for one night. This totally doesn't have to be that night, so sit back and relax with your sweats on the couch, with a movie and let that hair grow wild...or maybe not, that's up to you.
2. Chocolate becomes half off the next day.
There's nothing better than getting some of your favourite candy and chocolate, than when it's on a huge sale. Sure it's shaped like hearts or flowers, but it all tastes the same...so wait until after Valentine's Day and then stock up on your favourites to indulge on later!
3. You can save money.
There's nothing more annoying than going out or going on a date (especially at this time) where they jack up the prices to make your night "special". So order in from that takeout place down the road, or go to a low-key restaurant with some friends that you know will fill your stomach without breaking the bank.
4. There's no expectation of end of the night festivities...
There's nothing worse (or awkward) than going on a date, expecting something to happen at the end when it's not. Of course it's a shot to your dignity and possibly questioning everything you did the entire night, along with a long awkward pause on how to escape what happened a second ago. When you're single, there's no worry about getting denied at the end of the night...so let all your cheesy Rom-Com movies do that for you!
5. You can do whatever you want.
An awesome feeling about being single, is you don't have to plan! No planning to a romantic dinner, or setting or a series of events for the night. You can do whatever the hell you want, and not have to worry about who or what might happen. There's no pressure as to what should or shouldn't be happening, because you've got the entire night to your own schedule...even if it's binge-watching the latest series on Netflix.
6. You can have an awesome night with your friends.
Honestly, hanging out with your friends and being super weird, filling up your social media (I see those Snapchat nights) with you all doing the craziest, weirdest, and funniest things is probably the best way to spend the night. Just because Valentine's Day is all about love and romance, doesn't mean you can just hang out with your closest friends, being your weird self.
7. You can meet someone new.
While out on the town with your friends, there's always a possibility of meeting someone new. It doesn't have to go anywhere, nor does it have to be a huge romantic thing, but because you're single, chances are, there are a lot of other singles out there having a good time. Might as well make a new friend at the very least, and who knows where it may lead to...
So while you may be thinking that Valentine's Day is all for the couples, think again! There are so many things you can do while being single, and so many perks as well! Don't worry if you don't have a significant other to spend the night, when you've got plenty of friends, take-out, movies, and the possibility of more adventure in store! Being single on Valentine's Day doesn't have to be sad.
