Many girls struggle with insecurities and confidence. Especially in this day and age, when the expected body type is a Victoria’s Secret Model. Instead, I think society should look at a more realistic person for who they want to admire and strive to be. Amy Schumer is this person.
"I am a hot-blooded fire and I am fearless." -Amy Schumer
1. She is body confident.
You only get one body so why not rock it? Amy’s sense of style shows that she is confident no matter what body type she has. Amy has been heard quoting various things that show she is even more confident than we expect. Her hilarious sense of humor seems to add a certain touch to the manor as well. One of my favorite quotes by her, “Don’t feel bad for me, I think I’m, like, so pretty,” only enhances how she feels about herself. Being confident is a good thing no matter what your body type is.
2. She is a “man” magnet.
She knows the bad ass bitch she is. During her acceptance speech for her Trailblazer of the Year award, during the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, she delivered a very “potty-mouthed” speech, with lack of better words. Amy speaks the way she wants and is not afraid to be herself despite her vulgarity.
3. She is “killing it.”
As an iconic star for our generation, Amy has not fallen short of success by any means. Her recent rise to fame has struck the attention of many comedians in the industry. Tina Fey was caught at the Peabody Awards stating that the young star was “killing it.” Of course Amy proceeded to do what I believe anyone would do in this situation and kiss Tina Fey on stage. Amy has only been in the spotlight for a short amount of time but her confidence has shone through.
4. She is drop dead hilarious.
I’m not going to lie, I consider Amy my spirit animal. The most important reason for this is that she is literally drop dead hilarious. I find myself sitting in front of my computer constantly watching Inside Amy Schumer, her short films featured on Comedy Central. (I highly suggest checking these out because they are literally drop dead hilarious.)
5. Her movie "Trainwreck" is also “killing it.”
The movie, "Trainwreck," where Amy is staring, as Amy, is killing the box office. After only being out a short two and a half weeks, the movie is already brought in 79.9 million dollars. This movie has brought Amy out of the dark and into the spotlight. Amy’s confidence shines through in this movie as well and shows the true comedian that she is.
6. She is not afraid to show who she really is.
Many know Amy by her vulgar sense of humor. This can be a turn off for many men but according to Amy she can get d--- whenever she wants so I don’t see that as being a problem for her. Amy is not ashamed of who she is and neither should anyone else. Rock your body and personality because it’s the only one you are going to have.
7. She is confident, plain and simple.
Amy is just flat out confident in herself. At one point she was not, but she learned to love herself, which is so important. All of us have insecurities, but there is nothing wrong with loving yourself for them. Love your stretch marks, your tummy, your hair, your voice. Love yourself.
No matter what your body looks like, live life to the fullest because you only have one. Keep making people smile and laugh, it will give you the most satisfying feeling so go out and do that. And most importantly, be confident.
