7 Reasons Not To Vote For Donald Trump

America's new Catch-22.

The whole world is familiar with the current issues with the upcoming presidential election. Americans are encountering a bit of a catch-22 when it comes to the primary candidates. Right now, it's looking like our two choices are going to be Hillary Clinton, the "scandalous criminal," or Donald Trump. It came to my attention recently that a lot of republicans hate Hillary so much that they see voting for Trump as the only option they have. Here are seven reasons why that is a terrible mistake:

1. Donald Trump is extremely unprepared to be our President.

When a politician is running for President, they are expected to have solid campaign promises and plans. Not only has Trump failed to give us many expected changes, but the ones he has given us are vague and weak. All we as voters have to work with right now is a great wall paid for by Mexicans, xenophobic laws being implemented, and "bombing the s*** out of ISIS." He has ideas, but when asked to give details about these ideas, he can only give vague answers. He also claims that global warming was "created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive." It is clear from his debate performances that he does not understand the serious issues that we as a country are facing, so why would we want to put him in charge of fixing these issues?

2. He isn't even a successful businessman.

Donald Trump takes pride in being a successful businessman, and in the past has used this to make up for the fact that he isn't exactly an experienced politician. However, he inherited a large portion of his wealth from his father, the majority of his wealth now comes from simply being a celebrity and not his businesses, and he has filed for company bankruptcy four times. To put this one in perspective, only about five percent of the top 500 big businesses in America have filed for bankruptcy in the past 20 years, and Trump himself has had a company file four times since 1991. So he's not even a successful businessman, but simply a celebrity.

3. He is, quite frankly, a drama queen.

A good portion of Trump's media coverage is given to him because of whatever feud he's involved in this week. One day he's fighting with political commentator Megyn Kelly, next he's saying that businesswoman Carly Fiorina is ugly, and then he's getting in a feud with the Pope. You need to really like attention to start an argument with the Pope. Trump has earned around $2 billion worth of free media coverage during this election season, and it's no secret that he loves the spotlight. This trait, although great to have if you're a celebrity, is not one that America should want from a President.

4. He has talked about the use of nuclear weapons on not only the Middle East, but Europe.

We had entire history lessons throughout grade school that explained to us exactly why this is an awful idea, but when asked about the use of nuclear bombs, Trump said that he "refuses to take any cards off the table." As Chris Matthews pointed out in an interview with Trump, everyone in the world is hearing this as a threat. People in Europe, people in the Middle East, and especially the countries that we have bombed in the past are hearing a potential President of the United States declare that he will use nuclear bombs if we are attacked. There is so much going on outside of America, so many political revolutions and civil wars happening. The world is in a fragile state right now and we do not need someone as temperamental and reckless as Donald Trump disturbing us any more than we already are.

5. He is racist.

Donald Trump is on record saying that we should be "giving Europeans access to America and a path to citizenship, but not Latinos south of our American/Mexican border." This statement alone is proof that his whole wall idea is not being enforced for the right reasons. We as a country do have an immigration problem, and making sure that all immigrants have proper documentation is important. It is, however, racist and unjust to make this option available only for immigrants of certain races, and having someone with these opinions in office will stir up a lot of unnecessary problems.

6. He is a liar.

According to Quora, fact checkers have found that of all of the statements Trump has made during this election season, 92 percent of them are false on some level. He doesn't even try to hide it anymore. He had identified as a democrat in every interview leading up to his announcement that he was running for President. On NBC's "Today," Matt Lauer played a clip from an interview with ABC in which Trump referenced a campaign ad featuring women reading some insulting comments he had made. In this same NBC interview, Trump told Lauer that he had never seen the ad. These are two different stories told within minutes of each other. I know this is a small and almost irrelevant situation, but if we can't even trust this man with small things like this, how are we supposed to trust him to run our country?

7. He is not serious about helping our country.

When I first heard that Donald Trump was running for President, I truly thought it was a joke. Looking back, it's possible that it was a joke at the beginning, or at least a way for him to get media attention and promote himself as a celebrity. Once the media started feeding into him, however, he clearly started saying anything people wanted to hear just to keep himself going. His opinions change within minutes, he does not have detailed plans for our country, and some of his claims are extremely impractical, not to mention illegal. A man who states that he would "force the military to commit war crimes" and get rid of the Geneva convention completely does not have any regard for other people, just himself. This whole thing seems like a publicity stunt gone wrong and as soon as Americans stop giving Trump the attention he's looking for, he has the capability to make things get ugly.

So in all seriousness, when we walk into the voting booth in November, both of our options are going to suck. Hopefully, before we get that far, Ashton Kutcher will jump out and tell America that we've been Punk'd. But if that doesn't happen, I strongly encourage you to vote for the lesser of two evils. Hillary may be a bad politician, but Trump is simply a bad person. America has bounced back from having a bad politician in office before, but we've never been dumb enough to elect a bad person. Although Hillary has many problems, hers most likely wouldn't lead to the next World War or send our country as a whole into spiraling bankruptcy. If you can't bring yourself to vote for Hillary, I'd truly rather you just not vote.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
