Many people are likely to tell you that living on a college campus is going to be one of the best experiences of your life. However, many would base that on their own experiences in college, which is great. College can be fun. However, every person's experience is different, and sometimes going to college isn't something that everyone can handle. Here are reasons why it's totally okay to move back home after a year on campus.
1. College living isn't the best for everyone.
Moving away from your home town to a new city with diverse populations just isn't for everyone.
2. Campus life can be distracting.
College is a place where people come to discover themselves. Even the people you've grown close to have discovered themselves in drinking, smoking, getting high. It can all be distracting, really.
3. It can sometimes be cheaper to live at home.
If you managed to make it into a university, and only had to draw some loans for it because you lived on campus, moving off campus and back home can allow you to not have to take out loans at all!
4. Family, if a good one, is always a good thing to keep around.
Family is crucial to the building of a successful person and it is the foundation for success in general. College life is nice, and being away from your family is all well and good, but in the end, if you decide that having your family close is what you want, then you have that right to do that for yourself.
5. You can independently live with your family.
You can get a job, have your own meals, and pay your own bills all while living at home. If your folks don't charge you rent, that's alright. If they do, that's all the better. You can build responsibility that way!
6. The food is more than likely better than what you can get on campus.
Mama's cookin' will always trump campus foo.
7. If you're of faith, sometimes it's hard to keep that faith in the counterculture of college.
If you're a Christian, born and raised, college will definitely make you question your beliefs, which can be good for some people. But, a lot of times, the overwhelming culture of the college campus can become too much for Christian college students. If you feel this way, it's okay to leave that behind. You don't need that.
Living at college is something I feel everyone should experience, but it's up to you to decide if you want to stay living on campus. Personally, I'm thinking about moving back home myself.
