7 Reasons Why I'm Thankful For My Big

I loved you on bid day when you welcomed me with open arms into Chi Omega. I loved you on our first official date. I loved you during big/little reveal week when you tried your hardest to trick me. I loved you when I unwrapped a picture of us, meaning that you were my big. I love you a whole lot. Here are 7 reasons why I am thankful for you, big.

1.You remind me that I am strong and worthy on days when I wake up feeling small. College is amazing, but some days I wake up feeling like a really small fish in a huge pond. Those days can be a little tough. On days where my heart longs for affirmation or words of advice, you are always there for me.

2. You seem to know the exact moment when I am in need of an uplifting text or a link to a funny video on YouTube. A rainy Monday night in the library spent cramming for an exam can put me on edge a little bit. It seems like every time that I am almost at my breaking point, I get a text from you with calming words and wisdom that keeps me going.

3. Your walk with the Lord inspires me daily. You have a fire in your soul that burns for Jesus and I strive to be like you in that respect (and so many more). You are so beautiful and strong. You love the Lord with all of your heart and walking in faith with you has been and will continue to be such a blessing. I admire your knowledge of the Bible, your servant’s heart towards others, and your ceaseless chase after Jesus. Thank you for not only being my sister in Chi Omega, but also my sister in a beautiful walk of growing faith.

4. You never turn down a coffee date, a meal at Whole Foods, or weekly dinners in the caf. I knew from the moment that I walked into your room and saw your display of coffee mugs that we were truly meant for one another. You love coffee as much as I love coffee, which is an alarming amount. You love all of the same healthy foods that I love, but you will never deny taking a study break just to eat some dark chocolate with me. Thank you for the consistency of our meals together during the week. Those meals make me feel so cherished and cared for. It makes my heart so full of joy to hear about your week and to share with you what has gone on in mine. Those laughs, serious conversations, and eye rolls over nasty caf food make my whole week.

5. Every time that we run into each other, you make it feel like bid day all over again. Whether I see you on the quad, in Ben Brown, or across the way in the Lib, you never fail to stop what you’re doing and run to me. You greet me with the biggest hug and the tightest squeeze. Those moments are some of my favorite moments of the day.

6. You give me cute T-shirts. My basket was perfect.

7. You are an amazing woman. You cherish small moments, little victories, and everything in between. You acknowledge bumps along the road and take on challenges humbly and with so much grace. You remind me that it is perfectly normal to get stressed out or homesick and you celebrate the triumphs that hard work and prayer bring you to.

I could go on about you for days, big. I just wanted to give you a little piece of my heart, since you have given a huge piece of yours to me. You are such a blessing.

XOXO,

Your Little

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
